Heroin heroin for a benzo addict

I know that heroin and benzos don't mix (found out the hard way one time), so I'm very careful now when I use smack. The problem is, I have a pretty strong dependence on clonazepam; I absolutely can't sleep without it and start to feel pretty edgy within ~18hrs of a dose.

So my question is: what is a rough estimate on a "safe" amount of time to let elapse between taking heroin (insulffating about 1/2 bag) and eating a 1mg klonopin?

Right now I try to play it extra cautious, so I wait at least 24 hrs from when I snort to my next clonnie. But that means that any time I take dope, I'm in for a sleepless, unpleasant night. I know that there isn't a safe way to mix these drugs. But given the half-life of heroin, does anyone have a sense of how long it would take for the amount of dope in my system to be small enough for the risk of OD to be small when I take the clonazepam?

If you're benzodiazepine dependent, take your usual "maintenance" dose of benzos and then reduce your heroin dose (pref. titrate up very slowly) until you get where you want.

BZDs are generally discouraged from being combined with opioids, but low doses of benzos in dependent people are much less of a concern than the 16 year old eating "mad zanny bars, yo". It's not like mixing *any* amount of benzos with opioids is a guarantee for OD.
