So I went to a friends house having been sober for a few months. He and I had done much heroin in the past, somehow i actually convinced myself that alcohol consumption was the purpose of the visit. I also thought he was clean or i may not have gone there. Anyway i was presented with a choice, picked the wrong one and the following happened:
We got heroin, i decided to put up enough money for three bags. they were getting much more than 3 bags and I used to do three bags just to test the dope's strength. Snort one bag on the ride home to test the quality....i gave is about a 5/10 on the dope scale. When we got back to home base, i got a syringe and drew up the other two bags into one shot. The rush was great, I was high. I went to show a video that caught my eye on funnyordie. (The next part of this aint too funny)
i nodded off
Something woke me up. I look up at my friend who seems really pissed at me. He tells me I overdosed, went blue etc and he revived me with half an orange suboxone IV. I straight up did not believe him.....I was thinking "no you didnt just shoot me with.....(pan down to arm)....oh shit" Reality set in. Fortunate enough for me my lack of tolerance the disruption of that much heroin in my brain was a non issue, no precipitated withdrawal. I wasn't hooked. Even better it extended my high at least 48 hours.
If I knew he had suboxone, i would have probably opted for that in the first place had i known heroin was on the plate.
Now I have revived someone with naloxone twice, I know how it feels to be on the other end of an overdose and put all your prayers into a syringe and have the person wake up thinking i had punched them in the arm. Reviving overdose victims is a really thankless act.
I posted this mainly as anecdotal evidence of what has been the discussion on some forums on here. That SHOT of suboxone (4mg/1mg) brought me back. I had to explain to my friend why the suboxone shot actually made me more high. Luckily a pharmacist was present to back up my claims of affinity etc. HE was really scared that even though he woke me up i still might OD. I tried to calm him down and say if i was gonna be dead, i would be dead. I did not know he had suboxone with him, not that i would have asked for it....you never know when you are on the verge of death.
I used naloxone vials when I revived people. I really wonder if the generic subutex would have also worked in the same manner....I feel like it would have, but maybe i am being stupid. Maybe this may be a gem of a medicine as a means to always carry "the cure" for an overdose around in your pocket. I used to carry around naloxone vials, but those things are bulky and fuck goin' to the exchange for more of something i don't need.
Take from this experience what you will. I am alive
