Heroin dreams

I often get these night terrors when I drop my dose of methadone but never with heroin. When I say terrors I really mean terrifying - literally waking up in a cold sweat and screaming until I realise I'm actually awake and not in the situation I thought I was in.

Maybe you just don't get them due to something inherant in your make-up? If you're nodding off then I would have thought you'd get the dreams. What a shame if you just can't, seriously. Try a little more and see but don't go pushing it, I'd hate to think I was encouraging someone to get more fucked than they should....

When I'm on an opiate laying in bed nodding on/off I often slip into a weird delusional state that somewhat reminds me of the methamphatamine psychosis I once experienced, but seems far safer. With the meth psychosis I was a raving lunatic, getting in lots of trouble. But with this dreamy opiate nodding on/off, its like I experience all the same delusions I had experienced with meth except that I don't do anything about them. I just lay there nodding on and off in my delusional state. Its kinda scary but very nice. Eventually I just fall asleep and wake up fine the next day.

Yea Ill try more sometime.

When I go into a deep nod, it's like I think 5 minutes worth of thoughts and just am in bliss, and when I open my eyes from blinking, 4 hours have passed. It's beautiful.

Whenever I nod, even if I'm tired as all hell or should be by that time, I "come to" from it and kind of "wake up". I can't possibly sleep on H. Give about 20 minutes, if I am actually sleepy, I can sleep.

Damn good sleep too. Unless I have to wake up in 2 hours (Happens all the time...)

focus very hard on what you want to dream about before you dream. . . if possible do not use any drugs that you are not extremely comfortable with before. . . lucid dreams are amazing but in my opinion no drug makes dreaming less possible than POT. . . take this how you will.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

what an absolute statment of the facts you are totaly clueless and this is the first time i have heard you actually admit to it

The other day I was using H and nodding on/off as you do and all was good. Then as I awoke from a pretty deep dream I felt an overiding sense of fear and anxiety. I can remember this happening once or twice before and it only take getting up and moving about a bit to get rid of it. There was no specific thoughts associated with it just an overall feeling. I was reading something yesterday that kinda backed this up saying that chemical are released which can give rise to fear and put the user in a somewhat aggressive state due to it. Also mentioned general confusion as an aggrevating factor.

As I said, once I had got up and done a few normal things it went away and I could feel the sleepiness once more. It was almost as if I was going into a withdrawl like state of mind without it actually happening.

Quite strange but I wondered if anyone else ever got this?...

I don't really get odd dreams (I'm scared to fall asleep on an opiate), but I'll sit there and think nonsensical delusional thoughts, and then suddenly snap up, take a breath, think 'hahha WTF?', and then space off, then into another nod, rinse and repeat.

This is off of mainly dihydrocodeine/hydrocodone with benzos.

Dear God I better get hooked up with heroin when I move into the big city.

^^^This is methadone withdrawal, FAR more powerfull and frightening than most opiate/ panatherene opioid WD's (aka processed semi-synthetic opiates, like thebaine derivatives such as hydro, oxy, hydromorph, oxymorph, or my favorite, MORPHINE based derivates, such as HEROIN or 6-monoacetylmorphine). But, as of yet, the most realistic opiate/opioid withdrawal ive had is some trainspottingesque (under an electron-microscrope) cold turkey heroin visions, probably because i was mainlining 1.5 grams a day and stopped on a fucking dime. But the most intense PHYSICAL withdrawal was going 72 hours without my methadone (240mg/day, addicted like a motherfucker), and even once i got my dose, i wasnt the stable for almost 2 months (that damn methadone half-life). But i imagine that simply because i kicked heroin at such a high dose, and was IVing a heavy dose of some good smack, that the withdrawal hallucinations were more intense than methadone. However, if i was hit by a shot of some antagonist like naloxone right now (being addicted to methadone), i think my heroin WD's would stand in the shadows of the inevitable WD's from getting nailed with an antagonist while being on a "sub-stratospheric" of methadone. Man, i would hunt down that EMT/Nurse/Physician. I almost want a diabetic style bracelet saying, "deathly allergic to opioid antagonists, will sue you and your distant family members".......

I have strange experiences with dreams when I shoot smack. If I've been smoking it then nothing really happens.

When i've shot up I tend to not be able to tell the difference b/t reality and dreams and I drift rapidly in and out of a dream-like state. It's not what I'd call unpleasant, but its weird...I always try to drag my dreams into reality and reality into my dreams.

Awhile ago I shot up a little bit more than I was ready for and (combined with the effects of a very busy day) it had the most powerful effect. I was shooting up that night with a friend (very experienced) who tells me now that I kept thinking we were at a bar and I would demand drinks. He kept running to the kitchen getting me glasses of water incase I was dehydrating, but I would take a sip and then scream at him b/c it wasn't a martini/blue lagoon/margarita etc LOL.

(I think one of the drinks nearly ended up all over my head at one stage LOL LOL).

morphine. straight morphine from the hospital. i think they gave me too much (on top of the methadone and norco). in a hotel room alone i had the two scariest dreams ive ever had.

I don't get these dreams, because I can't sleep on heroin. I believe it's common to get "opiate induced insomnia" on heroin....

From the impression I'm getting, you guys are either getting crazy dreams when asleep, or hallucinations like dramamine.

Well usually when I nod my eyes are closed. If anything, when I get real smacked my vision goes really fucking blurry.

I heard that only one eye gets fucked up (vision wise) when on heroin because it only affects one side of your brain. I think the validity of this statement is questionable.... I'm not sure, can someone clear this up?

When I'm smacked, also, I tend to have very weird thoughts and visualize weird shit. But no hallucinations or heroin dreams.

Does anyone see quick flashes in front of their eyes when they're nodding? Like a strobe light of yellow/pink colors, like the color you see through your eyes when you look at the sun sort of.

Hector Berlioz' "Symphonie Fantastique" is inspired by opium dreams, and so are the works of Charles Baudelaire (poet), William Blake (painter) and Thomas de Quincey (writer), to name a few classics. Opium is supposedly the opiate/opioid which causes the most intense "dreaming".

no, but I can see black and white (I guess its a matter of perception) visual patters/scenes/constantly moving scenarios when my eyes are closed on a heavy nod. They randomize and are processed by my brain the exact same way I remember dreams or daydreams.... both with hydro and H, definately more prominent with H.

When your eyes are closed... are these closed eye visuals or hallucinations, or just really fucked up thoughts and thinking of visually weird ass shit?

That's what I get on H I suppose. But's it's nothing I couldn't imagine up when sober. Not like what I normally "visualize" in my mind though...
