Heroin Heroin and working out

Runner's high

Damn it, this isn't fair.

I used to love running, and there really IS a "runner's high". A REAL "Runner's High". I used to get that roughly 1 out of every 5 runs. I haven't gotten any enjoyment from any type of exercise at all since October 2010. As I suspected, it would seem Heroin most closely resembles a runner's high. Or would that be a speed ball? I've always ran when sober and I've never done anything "hard" but I'm desperately trying to recreate that pleasant euphoric mood I would get during and after runs. Is Heroin the key?

For a cardiovascular work out, possibly.

But, that's if you have no tolerance as well. Someone with a tolerance to heroin isn't going to be all F'd up and unable to run correctly.

For muscular work outs, you'll be able to exert yourself as full as you need to.

i actually managed to be much much more active on heroin than i am now clean, i used to cycle every where when i was gear and was actually really fit

if i tried that now id be fucked within minutes

You'll build muscle just fine w/ heroin or any other opiate in your system (minus the decrease in testosterone prolonged use of opiates cause...) But IME you will also "burn off" your high. Yeah sure you'll be high during your work out, but:
1) You won't appreciate the high b/c your focused on your work out,
and
2) B/c of.....: Increased metabolism, sweating, changes in metabolic activity, hormone levels, the release of endorphins and endogenous opiates and w/e else happens during and after exercise, the high you should be feeling isn't there or is decreased in intensity.

This has been my experience with Oxy and H, its just a waste of opiates, only reason I did it was b/c I wanted to go to the gym and if I'm not high I'm in w/d, so I'd take my dose, work out, be fine, but slightly pissed that I had to use up a dose to go to the gym

I'd imagine the benefits you get are dependent on what shape you're in. For someone in horrible shape I could see even 10-15 minutes of cardiovascular work at their target heart rate being beneficial.

You also have to take into account the cardiovascular workout being performed and at what exertion level it gets performed at. I read recent articles that someone exercising all out(to the point of almost collapsing) in short bursts equal in benefits to much longer work outs at the normal pace. Normal pace being where you can hold a conversation with someone while you're doing your thing on the treadmill, elliptical, whatever.

/off-topic

They might've said that in an article, but even seasoned athletes can't hold a conversation while at their target heart rate (normal pace).

The running in short bursts your talking about is reaching the anaerobic threshold, it switches from burning excess fat to burning stored fats, and it's actually much more beneficial than performing your cardio at target heart rate.

You can read it here http://www.rice.edu/~jenky/sports/anaerobic.threshold.html

Easier said than done though

But OP to add to everything else, no good workout goes without a good diet. The gym is only half of what matters, it means nothing unless you eat right afterwards.

i used to wait until i had done a roxi before i would lift weights or do any exercising. partly because i thought it might diminish muscle fatigue while exercising and partly because i would be withdrawing if i hadnt done a roxi. i would make sure to have more for after working out to motivate me.... anyway i still gained muscle and mass.

I am a chronic pain patient on hydromorphone and my doctor actually encourages me to get out and exercise and raise my heart rate for as long as I can and also gives me yoga-like workouts to help with stabilizing muscles in my back. They also encouraged lifting weights to help gain and maintain my muscle mass, otherwise I would become weak and the pain will get worse. Taking all of this into consideration, this pretty well backs up everyone's argument about exercise being good on heroin as I have taken both hydromorphone and morphine (which we all know is an active heroin metabolite) to stay in shape. I highly doubt they would be so eager to get me to workout to stay well if I were to lose muscle mass or hinder growth.

Your friend likes to make up things because he is ignorant and it makes him feel better about his lack of intelligence.

It is OK to work out on heroin. Perfectly normal. It won't hinder muscle growth. I did plenty of muscular work outs while under the influence of heroin and I grew muscle just as easily as if I wasn't using.

Is it OK if I close this now? Just tell your friend he's st00pid and he needs to get edumacated.

Dont fully agree CapH. Opiates lower test levels and therefore u wouldnot get the same results sans heroin. Is it a waste? No, but definitely more limited due to lower T imo.
