Heroin and illness

I'm currently sick with some kind of common cold and I'm getting some H tonight. Anddd I was wondering if it would make my cold worse or not?

I'm assuming yes, but like heroin makes me wanna be chill and rest/sleep, which would make it alright..? I guess?
 
It depends on the quality of the H and your physical condition.
If you suffer from bad and painful cough, then a bit of H won't be wrong.
Just keep the dose a bit lower as usual and have a glass of hot milk with
honey and then go to bed.

I would like to note that as a CNS, it will likely not help your cold. However, opiates are famous for helping coughs. As a matter of fact, Bayer used to sell heroin as a cough suppressant back in the early 1900's.
 
If you're not dependent, I'd save it for when you're not sick. It'll be a much better experience.
 
Depends how sick you are and how much you're planning to do. If you're fairly sick you probably shouldn't do it, if you're not that sick just dont do a grip this time.
 
Yeah, unless you need to take it, and are just taking it for fun, then pass until you're felling better.

Two caveats, though: If you've got a wicked unproductive cough, try it. Second, if you're suffering from diarrhea, then use it as well.
 
as a side note, if you have a dependence, going into withdrawal while sick would probably worsen the sickness by a lot, so you'd pretty much have to keep using, at least maintenance doses

if it's just a cold or something, it's not gonna be the end of the world

stimulants on the other hand, mobilize and burn all of your body's resources. this is NOT good while sick. including coffee
 
^^Agreed. I have dosed heroin while stricken with a common cold(many years ago, before I was dependent), and it actually made me feel quite a bit better - and high. :)
 
I always wonderd what dope would do if you were sick with a cold and not sick from dope, because dope sickness is pretty similar to the flu, and it makes that go away beutifully, to bad I always had a habbit so I couldnt try it out..
 
Opiates are only effective for coughs that need to be suppressed- when the person needs to sleep or doesn't have a phlegm-producing cough. When there is phlegm, the person needs an expectorant, to loosen up the junk and make it easier to cough up.

For a general cold, it's not going to have a great effect either way. I agree, that if not dependent, save it for a day when you can really enjoy it. If it helps you sleep well, then go for it.
 
i agree, if you are not dependent save it for another time, but if you have a habbit go ahead and do it, it might make your cold feel better. i noticed that when i was shooting dope everyday i rarely got sick with a cold or stuff like that. i always thought it was because a lot of the dope around here is cut with thiamine lol....and i was getting my vitamins which was keeping my immune response system functioning properly. thats probably not the case tho/

This is commonly reported by chronic opiate addicts, especially IV heroin users. I can remember back in '99 volunteering at a needle exchange and always hearing about this. I have never really noticed it honestly, I get sick often whether I am shooting dope or not...


EDIT: Perhaps when you're "doped up" you just don't feel sick?
 
opiates make me feel 120% good if im sick better even than if i wasnt because of the relief but from what i understand it lowers ur immune system so all it will give u is temporary relief but worsen ur situation in the long run. Especially if u like to chain smoke and go out opiated
 
Actually, I never realy got ill when using. I thought it was only me...
BE interesting to see how many DiaMorphine patients get sick (cold/flu) in relation to normal circumstances....
 
I don't really believe that. It's either just a coincidence or you're not in contact with many people when you do dope hence not getting sick or you don't notice when you have a minor cold because you are high. Opiates prevent cough, mask pain, can give you energy, or relax you. They are basically the perfect mask for a illness. I remember thinking this a few times when I was using opiates hard core, but then I started to keep an eye on myself closely. I noticed that a few times I had a sore throat but couldn't feel it cause I was so high. The way I could tell was because my throat was so swollen that it was hard to swallow and my glands were swollen as well, but I sure as hell didn't feel sick. It was crazy how much it covered it up especially if you didn't think about any of the symptoms because most of the time it would be the dope or opiates causing hot flashes, or maybe you thought you were starting to w/d. Damn, I even thought that it was the opiates causing my throat to swell up, but it was just a bad cold/sore throat. lol.
