So last night around 11 pm I hit what I think was an aertry in the bend in my left arm it drew blood and when I shot a burning feeling rushed up y hand to my palm .. From my elbow to my thumb looked like I did a shot that was to hot never feeling what I felt I drove to the er and explained what happend all they gave me was a tetnis shot and a Benadryl the red ness has gone away but my thumb wrist is still swollen does this go away should I go back does anyone know what is up did I get shitty care or what ??

I've never hit an arterie, but what you described sounds like it could possibly be a very strong histamine release. I've had similar experiences when I did not miss my shot, and I felt like a thousand burning sticks were running down my hand, causing it to feel numb yet somehow hot. It's also possible that you hit a nerve, because that can cause swelling too.

Did you feel a rush from the heroin?

When you hit an artery you know it 'cause when you are feeding the dope through the syringe into your arm it BURNS LIKE MOLTEN FUCKING LAVA. You think you are getting awesome register, and you are, just the wrong pipeline.

Another way to know you have hit an artery is when you go to push the plunger it can be INSANELY hard to get it to feed in i.e. your hand is shaking from the exertion of trying to push the plunger down. Me thinks it is your body's not so subtle way of telling you to PULL THAT NEEDLE OUT!

To answer your question, you did not get shitty care - they did all they can do, which is really, nothing.
