Heroin (ab)users? Are you ever going to stop or are you going to die an addict?

Ok, in the beginning U have a choice, and that´s what leads U to addiction BUT, once you´re there, you´re never getting out....sure, I can stay clean for a while, but not ONE DAY goes by without me thinking of drugs..I´m always going to be an addict, no mather what I do or say can change that...yes it´s my own fault, no one made me do drugs, but that´s not the point, the point is that I´m at a place I can never escape from and I am always going to have to live with this...I can´t explain how I struggle against myself every day not to do H...sometimes I win, sometimes I loose, but if I could really, really choose, I´d choose never ever to think one thought about H again. Well that´s too late now so..I´ll just keep fighting it I guess...

Hope U can forgive my shitty spelling...

Suicide is forever too, and just like addiction it was a choice you made that will change your life forever. But with addiction you at least have more then 1 chance. If you arean't the only person to blame who else is responsible for addiction?

To: love In Vein:

"The last time I checked, drugs were anything but harmless. When in your body, drugs don't just sit there doing nothing."

Right, I understand that. But the drug itself is not harmful, it takes a human being with concious thought to put that chemical in themselves. When I mean in general drugs are harmless I mean just that... unless you pick it up and put it in yourself in some manner, it is harmless.

"I have yet to meet anyone that's said they even came close to being able to foretell exactly how much damage drugs could do.
And it's more than easy to see other people using drugs that seem to have their life together. And in turn, it only seems logical that you can do the same thing.
The only knowledge most people have to go on is what they're told about the dangers of drugs by people who have never themselves used them, or everything else there is to know about drugs from people who have used them.
In addition, most people start using drugs at a young age when they are both impressionable and do not have the life experience to make sound judgements. Nor are they capable of understanding the magnitude of their mistakes."

And your point? they still choose to put that stuff in themselves, knowledgable or not on the subject.

"This overlooks one extremely important thing.
One thing that ALL recreational drugs do is interfere with your rational decision-making capabilities. And not simply for the time you are under the influence of drugs.
It also overlooks the fact that most people are not even aware they are suffering from the ill-effects of drugs because the changes happen so slowly and gradually. By the time most people notice, it's no longer so simple as to where someone can just say "Uh oh, I'm having problems, I'm just going to never use again!".
This even happens to people who use something even so suppossedly benign as marijuana."

They still have only themselves to blame, not the drug.

"Let's hear it for people that don't have immature nihilistic views on life.
All of your bullshit is exactly that, bullshit. It's not based on scientific fact.
Are you even aware that some people are even genetically predisposed to addiction?
So sure, ultimately it comes down to the choice to use drugs. However you have COMPLETELY overlooked all the factors that go into and effect the decision making process.
You don't even take into account one of the most obvious reasons people use drugs: they make you feel better.
Christ man, until you get over your angry teenage attitude, PLEASE do the world a favor and DON'T have kids."

So because my views are sweeping, terse, and broad they should have less value?

Yeah most likely.

I wasn't trying to be nihilistic I was trying to be realistic and brutal.

Yes there are many reasons why people use drugs, and when I wrote what I wrote I wasn't speaking of those trapped in addiction but it was aimed more at the casual drug user. Addiction is a disease, and sometimes people don't wake up in time. I commend those that want to get better but continue to be chained to there predisposed genetic condition.

What I can't stand however is people who have overcome an addiction trying to demonize drug use just because it didn't work out for them. There are negative and positive aspects to drug use; such as feeling better. For some people it's totally worth it to risk their souls for a quick rush, agree with it or not. And the drugs have nothing to do with it... if you know your at risk towards addiction, then well don't risk feeding the addiction.

Please excuse the drunken ramblings. Oh and don't worry, I don't plan on having kids.

twgburst>>Of course I´m the one to blame for my addiction, what I menat is that now that I´m here, I can´t choose NOT to be an addict..those thoughts and feelings of doing drugs and the anxiety when i´m clean will never go away so now it´s to late...hope I make sense..
