Ive been a guest on here for years but never created a account, and finally decided to make a account. I will like to note i have a medical issue for being on what im taking, there is no illegal consumption going on, this is prescribed.
So heres my problem/issue.
I am 23 years old man (still very much a kid though) , and have always lived a extremely active lifestyle, raced motocross, snowboard, wakeboard, you get the idea, i have been very unfortunate a have been informed that i have a disc herniation on L5S1 (lowest disc on your spine with the addition of degenerative disc disease.) I know this isnt a medical health website, but i figured to post up to see what peoples opinions are. My biggest problem now is, the doctors will not do surgery due to my age and the only type of surgery possible is a fusion which only has a 40% chance of being successful and down the road feel worse and not be able to do anything active, so there solution is to have me on pain meds basically the rest of my life as i can still do the things i love just feel like crap while doing so. As many will say your really lucky, i will tell you right now it isnt a life to be proud of and knowing you have to take a pill to get out of bed in the morning because you hurt so much sucks. Everything that i was so use to doing has come to a stop.
Now here is the biggest problem, ive been on perks 5/325s for close to 8 months now, with a small dosage of 1 every 4 hours (tops 5 a day). At first they worked excellent and i could continue doing the things i love, but recently the effectiveness has dramatically decreased. The doctors also have told me to take excessive amounts of advil to try and reduce the swelling, but i see no light at the end of the tunnel. I do know i may be able to go up on my dossage, but i do not enjoy having to rely on a pill so i can function, and personally im not a huge fan of living around a bottle of pills. Also if i dont take them as ive tried to see if i can function, my pain obviously is through the roof and i definitely think i experience slight withdrawals which is extremely unpleasant on top of being in so much pain.
What do you guys suggest to make these work better? I dont want to blow them, or plug or anything like that, im wondering if eating after taking it works better, or on a empty stomach makes them work better/last longer. Also how do i go about telling my doctor that they aren't working without making me look like a junkie, i am very lucky that they are giving me anything at all, as most doctors think because of my age im just going to push them on the streets when that is totally out of the question. I just dont want it be that if i ask they they get suspicious and stop all together. I will note i rarely take any extra, and if i do it is because my pain has become very bad, or i wake up in the middle of night because of the pain.
Sorry for such a long post but figured to give as much info as possible so you guys know where im coming from.
