Here to try and understand my brother's addictions

Hi, my name is Reghan. I am 18 years old and I'm a total straight edge. I don't do drugs, but I want to learn more about them. Both of my brothers turned to drugs and I want to try and understand why. My older brother Is 22 and no longer does drugs, but he used to. My younger(Biological) brother is 17 and he has so many issues I don't even know where to start. I'm hoping here I can gain some knowledge and support. I will be sharing my brother's story(once I figure out where to post it) and I hope you guys can support me and help me figure out what I can do.

That was about my brothers. Who am I? I am a high school graduate #classof2015 I love cats, Netflix, musicals etc. I've never done drugs, drank, smoked or even had sex. I work 30-35 hours a week and I have a huge heart. While I am here to help myself and my family in any way I can, I would also love to support as many as possible.

This is indeed the place for some understanding of why friends and family members use substances. Some just misuse and some cross the line to full blown dependence which at this point one is physiological dependent and even if one wants to stop they sometimes can't. There are various reasons of course regarding why one 'starts' using substances, which varies for each individual. I feel your post might be appropriate for The Dark Side or another forum. Do you mind if I move your post so you'll receive more responses. This is indeed the forum to begin though. Thank you for introducing yourself.

It's good you have not fallen into drug use. I hope you learn a bit from Bluelight about addiction. I'm sorry your family members are suffering.
