yes, scrog works outdoors :sus:

set the screen up before the plants get too big.and make it a fucking massive area as they will filll it fast.

Hope you got an early flowering variety being up north and that?

A dozen plants are not gonna be easy to conceal....whatever method you use.

Fuck knows what variety I've got - they (the seeds that is) were in some grass I acquired recently so we will see :\

Not really expecting brilliant results in this climate and latitude, but as long as I can get some 'fallback' material I'll be happy..

Oh yeh, another Q for those that know... My plants are currently growing in pots made out of 3L blue 'Frosty Jacks' cider bottles - cut to approx 4" high with drainage holes drilled in the bottom. Is the fact that the bottles are translucent a problem? Should they be totally opaque?

Cheers..

Damn. I had no idea it was possible to even grow something smokable outside in this country at all until recently. Now I hear there's a dude growing seeds he found in a bag of grass out Frosty Jacks bottles haha. Fucking brilliant. I hope this works out man.

Heh heh - yeah man, it's a weed, it'll grow anywhere & everywhere - the main problems being that climate & conditions seriously affect the THC, CBD & CBN ratios, and (as is my major problem) that they grow fuckin big!! If ya got decent weed and the seeds are viable, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a decent smoke off them (at least with the first generation). It's just that they can take as much light as you can throw at them (and more) and as a result they'll quickly be 8 feet tall (my last attempt produced 18 nine foot tall plants in my attic under standard fluorescent tubes). So the hardest thing is keeping them under control - not growing them in the first place..=D

Oh, it's all smokable - I've already trimmed the first leaves off the little buggers (ya know, the first set after the cotyledons), and I could feel a buzz off them.. so deffo worth doing, it's just keeping them under control and out of sight of nosy neighbours....

Yes, it's a problem that they're translucent, the roots will turn green if they're recieving light. No matter, you'll have to repot them pretty soon anyway.

Ah, so the pots need to be totally opaque yeah? The roots are very visible now in all of the pots, but I was hoping to get away without repotting (especially into larger pots) in an effort to stunt their growth somewhat. I guess you wouldn't recommend this then? The cider bottle pots they are currently in have a diameter of 5". What would you recommend as a minimum to allow them to reach their full potential without going completely off the scale height wise?

Try growing autos dude. The weed doesnt have the same "bag appeal" but it's just as nice to smoke and the plants will be done within 70 days of germination.

Rumour has it that a "noob" can pull 30g from a single plant under a 300w CFL. Just rumours though ;)

Smoking the first leaves after the seed leaves will not yield anything more than a placebo and a severely traumatised seedling.
Maybe I'm a snob, and maybe I haven't grown weed for a while, but c'mon, autos under a CFL? Have some self-respect.

gobsmacked

autos are fucking shit.

Despite me advising him strongly against it, mate bought some fem'd autos, flowered them out fast as fuck, about 16 plants under a 600, and over an oz each, but fat main colas etc. I was gobsmacked.

Dry they have a vague taste of NL#2, which i grew years ago and loved.

But the smoke is shit, they taste unfinished, very weak high.

Big disappointment.

But he might buy them again cos he"can't be bothered to do cuttings" and the autos "finish" so fast from seed.

:(

you should aim, next year, after using this year as an experiment, to get something suited for higher latitudes.

Frisian Dew, and Purple Maroc are amongst the most reliable for UK climate...

Down here Devon Cream (only available locally through mates of mates etc) is best for our climate, been bred out, crossed and backcrossed for years.. =D

Never heard of Devon Cream (unlikely to being up in Lancashire!), but strains that have been acclimatised are what you need. Got some purple marocs, easy sativas, hashplant 2, Purple Widow, and Danish Gold outdoors this year. Hoping for a good few oz come October =D not had any losses yet

Just had the pleasure of sampling my mate's new crop; wasn't impressed with the stuff he was pumping out before I left for uni but by fucking heck he's sorted his game out in the past two years. He's been crossing strains and I think we were smoking something he referred to as 'tramp lady's gusset', which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. That man <3 Seriously considering making the trip back to buy from him when I move again instead of buying locally cos to be honest it's been shite. This stuff had me stoned and smiley for a good few hours, actually made me genuinely appreciate the fairly long walk home and everything!

Also want to have a bash myself when I move but that will be purely personal use

Ahh the memories! my mates dad used to grow this bk in '04/05 before he died, we would get oz's for £110 back then n we moaned as £80 was what we used to pay, i got really sick of smoking it because it was always around, would kill for some now though!!
