Hemp Protein powder

Hey bluelighters. Im on a road to recovery ive been clean for a long time now well over a year for chems and since october for the herb.

Nowadays i am slowly but surely getting addicted to exercise, which is leading me to have a big desire for proper nutrition. My goal is just to improve my overall muscle mass and decrease body fat % (I put on weight because of Olanzapine/Zyprexa but i havent taken any 'meds' since january)

Anyway enough about me, more about this hemp protein.

It is derived from Hemp Seeds, and although it doesnt have high amounts of protein compared to other proteins, what appeals to me the most about this one is that it is easily digestible. This is essential if you have IBS or lactose intolerance. The taste isnt that great but i have slowly but surely got used to it. It contains chlorophyll which has an alkalising effect on the body, and contains essential amino acids and non essential.

I really rate it, it boosts my energy and i am doing the most working out ive ever done in my life (even before i used drugs lol) and it gives me the healthy feeling to stay clean.
It is hemp not marijuana and the THC levels are neglible. Hemp also contains Omega 3's and 6's, i personally think this protein has helped with my Borderline Personality Disorder tremendously (paired with exercise)

^great to hear from you darksidesam and im happy you are doin well with your recovery.

The quality of protein might be better from the hemp hearts... But I also noticed the hemp protein really made me feel good. Plus it doesn't have a lot of fat to it, as the hearts do. Hemp foods are a "magical" thing. When I could tolerate them, I considered them a spiritual food.

I really like the hemp seeds that have recently become available where I live.
They're really tasty and nutritious.

i find hemp seeds sweet and tasty, the only thing that puts me off of eating to many is the extreme fibre bowel movements lol

Unless it's USP rated, you dont know if it has any protein in it.

I think egg whites are the best source.

I'm sure there is protein it. There is no question. Grass has protein. Leaves have protein. And hemp seeds consistently are tested to be high in fairly high quality protein.

However, the protein powder is from the hard shell of the seed, which some don't easily digest (and grains are typically not digested as fully, because of these tough parts). The softer heart is easier digested (in proper amounts, just don't eat too much at once).

Allegedly the hemp seed is considered near-complete, not "complete", because it is lacking in lysine (from what I remember, it has it, but not enough to be healthy surviving on it exclusively, which I doubt anyone does, except me some years ago, and I was okay, more or less), for what we need, as well.

Argh. Yea you're right. The protein powder is made from [whole] seeds that have been pressed to extract oil. I'm not sure why I didn't remember that. But its still also the hard shell. Just not just.
