Hey,

After overdosing on Cocaine I have experienced what seem permanent side effects - twitches/tics (had them about 2 months). I am surrounded by different friendship groups that do cocaine... How do I ensure/ help myself never do it again? If I do then it is very possible more neurological damage will be done and my twitches/tics will worsen to a degree that will be difficult to accept and potentially operate normally

I do not trust myself when I get drunk, it is worrying

Thanks

I know you don't want to hear this, but you probably need to stop hanging around people when they're using it. No addict can sit around and watch others do their DOC. At least none that I've met. I had to leave a lot of good friends behind when I quit.. If they are still your friends, they'll hang out with you sober.

Go to see a doctor and tell him or her what happened and how you have the tics/twitches. Stop hanging around with people who use cocaine, or if they use it when you are around leave. You're right not to trust yourself when drunk since alcohol does lower your inhibitions and can cause people to use drugs or do things they would not do sober. Good luck.

If you go to your friends and tell them that you are trying to quit cocaine and they still use it around you, they obviously have no respect for you, and as so, you should not consider them your friends.

Eventually every addict comes to this crossroads. "Do I keep hanging around with people that use because I feel they are my friends, or do I work on myself, become more mature, and find friends that are doing the same?"
