My 19 yr old son took 100 mg of vyvanse yesterday and was extremely hyper and manic...of course he luved it...he did not sleep at all....then took another 100 mg this a.m. He also has a 10 mg adderall with him "in case per as he starts to crash." His eyes were still extremely dialated this morning and he was still extremely hyper....it is very cold out and he was hot. I know Vyvanse raises your blood pressure and heart rate.....and so does not sleeping. I am afraid he might e a heart attack or stroke or something....am i over reacting he of course says i am.8(

I doubt you'll get much help in this section of the forum for what you're looking for. Hopefully it's moved to a more appropriate subforum. How is he today? Feeling any better?

I hope your son is okay; it does sound very much as though his use if drugs needs to be addressed.

The Wiki Forum, however, is unfortunately not the appropriate place for this type of question. I'm going to ove this to Basic Drug Discussion; BDD mods feel free to re-move it if you think my move might not be the best option!

Sorry no one saw your question earlier, as mentioned it was not in the right area of the forum. I assume since the post was made 2 days ago you've already got some help and probably aren't even checking this site anymore, but if you still need any info or help please let us know. I hope your son is ok! <3

100mg? That second 100mg is definitely something to be concerned about.. I mean, I don't know of 'manic' is the term, it's amphetamine, mania is something different. You could call it a 'manic high' but still not mania, once they binge and are up for days, I'd say that term can apply though.

Let us know what happened though.

Amphetamines are RELATIVELY safe (compared to large dose opiates, alcohol or benzos), but getting no sleep and then taking more is going to put alot of stress on his heart and make his crash miserable.

Just make sure he doesn't take anymore, stays hydrated, gets some good nutrients in him, and sleep.

Is he prescribed these meds? If he is, can you disperse the right doses to him?

He should be fine. He's young and a healthy weight. 200mg of vyvanse is only equal to about 60mg of dextroamphetamine (What Vyvanse turns into and is responsible for all of it's effects; it's also the psychoactive ingredient in Adderall), which is the daily maximum one is supposed to prescribe. The 10mg adderall contains 7mg of dextroamphetamine, so he shouldn't have any health issues - just a horrible comedown. Just make sure he doesn't make a habit of these binges, as over time they will start to affect him. Also make sure he's eating well (soft foods might be appropriate as they're easy to go down), get's plenty of water, and I suggest Gatorade as well, and that he does get some sleep.

This is a really late response, but maybe you'll come back and see this.
