So basically i've been taking klonopin for 7 months, dosage varies from .5mg a day to 2mg a day (random times where id take xanax with it).

Most days... dosage was low, lets put it like that.
Well one thing came to another, klonopin ran out all i had were some xanax my friend gave me. I've been taking them real slow and been averaging about 1mg a day (broken into little pieces to taper through the day)

I go into withdrawal every 4-5 hours, i just took my last piece .25mg.... So what do you guys think, am i able to handle this alone at home or do i need valium. I know it will be a bitch all im worried about is a seizure..
Basically can i get off this with out needing medical assistance, i know no one can answer this for sure but some words of wisdom would be nice. Anyone cold turkey a semi high dosage of xanax and end up fine?

Btw i handle pretty much all withdrawals fine, been through heroin and all that... didn't phase me much. Benzos tho.... those scare me

Well you haven't been on it that long, and your dosage isn't too high, so a seizure is probably unlikely, but still possible.
Have you EVER had one before? (drug-related or not)

It's unlikely that you'll experience seizures with that low of dosage. I just recently went through 4 day withdrawal cold turkey from a 2mg/day Xanax habit and made it through fine.

No i haven't ,it's one of my biggest fears but luckily i have never had one

That makes me feel better, a lot better. How long were you on the xanax?

Total length of time was around 8 months but the 2mg/day only for a couple weeks. You won't sleep for shit your mind will race and you'll be in a shitty mood but I wouldn't worry abt seizing up. It's been a while since you posted so let me know

You're nowhere near that category, though. With such a small dose I doubt you need to worry about seizing, unless you're otherwise predisposed to them. I am also not a doctor.

You're on a small dose like everyone has said...I was on a much higher amount, and the w/d was bad. I'd never take a high amount of xanax ever again.

Depending on how long you've been at .25mg, you may want to continue a taper, especially if you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms as soon as 4-5 hours after your last dose (this is a sign that you are tapering too fast). Its hard to tell if you will or will not experience a moderately difficult and prolonged withdrawal or not. If you can get ahold of some valium, get it, and taper with that to err on the side of caution. A 7 month benzodiazepine habit is not something you want to take too lightly. However, there is always the possibility that you may experience a short-lasting withdrawal, which may or may not be difficult. YMMV. Then again, it is always best to make the best usage of your resources. A slower valium taper would certainly be preferable in terms of being functional and relatively comfortable over a rapid taper using a short-acting benzodiazepine.

I had a buddy who went into seizures coming off just as you are be carefull, use Valium, or Librium so you don't seize and choke on your tongue.

In my situation, Ive been on klonopin for the past 6 months probably, with a dose from .5mgs- 1mg/day. Rarely exceed that dose but will occasionally take a 2mg xanax bar or alcohol. But a month ago I wanted to see how I responded to tapering off the kpins and how it would affect me.

I took .25mgs for 2 nights then quit cold turkey. The following 2 weeks the only things I noticed were mild anxiety spikes at times then everything subsided.. And to be honest with you im not sure why I started taking them again because I literally had 0 side effects to quiting. I think I had a presentation at work and figured why not..

I've heard horror stories for benzo withdrawal tho for some people so be careful. Everyones body chemistry is different
