Hello friends, I am seeking advice from individuals who have yielded successful results with making their own salvia tinctures. I am kicking myself because I did not weigh my dry leaf before beginning but using deductive reasoning I am assuming I started with about ten grams dried leaf, finely minced (almost to powder). I deposited the aforementioned plant material into a glass mason jar and proceeded to fill the container just above the level of the plant matter (75mL) with 190 proof everclear.

With this information in mind, how long should I expect to waiy before straining the liquid and dosing?

I have read that droppers held in the mouth will yield favorable results.

Any advice?

I can't help you, but I will interject that I've tried both Salvia tinctures and the quid method, and I've found the quid method to be much more effective. I hope your stuff turns out potent, though!

Chewing the leaves slowly for 20 minutes. Look it up. It's the way the natives (Mazatecs in Mexico) do it.

Ah of course, I have heard of that method. The preferred ROA. I decided to scrap my tincture idea. I dosed 5mL sublingual and nothing. I laid another 5mL on a RAW rolling paper (blotter improv) waited for it to dry, folded it up, buccally it went, and still is. No effect. The area of the pyrex that had the paper evaporating left a crude residue that I scraped and smoked in my meth pipe- that taste. That salvia taste. No psychoactivity, so I performed a fine strain with cheesecloth and collected a round pyrex dish full of deep green/black liquid with a very fine powdery substance lingering at the bottom.
I shall let this evap for 24hrs, scrape, and smoke up.

I will report back.

I'm also in this quest of non-smoked salvia.
First, you do it wrong.
The salvinorine is in little glands on the surface of the leaf, weras bitter stuff, chlorophile and all you dont want is inside the leaf: dont do powder!
The cooking :
- drye the leafs very well
- dont powder it, just break the leaf gently (my english skills are surging)
- put the leafs in a glass in the congelateur (the machine in your kitchen that go -18°celcuis)
- store also a littre of acetone, wait 1h for both to chill
- staying in the freezer, pour just enough acetone on the leaf to cover, check slowly, filter
- repeat 3 time, until the liquide begin to have a very light green color
- discar the leafs
- let the acetone evaporate outside
- you get a clean powder white with very light green, of salvinorine

After that, you can begin your tests to maximum absorbtion without smoking.
I tried with propylène glycol, the salvinotine disolve very well but the effets are very light.

@mamba
that is essentially what i have done here. i minced the leaves with my chefs knife to (almost) powder. minus the freezer, the acetone, and the fact i let mine soak for 3 hours, our methods are almost identical.
It is difficult to come across pure acetone where I live.

Smoking 50mg of my extract in one large toke feels similar to a large hit of 10-20x salvia. It's like this warped fish eye lense sensation. Corners are curves in the peripherals of ny vision. And that buzzing- that humming, fluttering, chopping- whatever you want to call it, it is the essence of knowing I have ingested salvinorins, and I think that personally, I do not like the pharmacodynamic effects of salvinorin a/b on my consciousness. I felt dismal, lost, hopeless. It was rather depressing. Couple this emotional state with the visual disturbance, and for me, it was no bueno.

Out of ten(ish) grams dried leaf and a total of 85mL everclear used, I yielded 225mg of sparkly blackish-green smut (with more stuck to the dish, I need a smaller razor head to get at it all). I will attempt smoking this extract once more at 100mg despite my discomfort. This is the first successful extract I have created minus a few batches of QWISO on old stems back in the day, so I will definitely take advantage of my efforts.

I am somewhat satisfied with these results. Practice makes perfect. :)
