First of all, well done beachbum4u, your doing awesome. :-D I cant believe you have such a tinpot dictator of a doctor! Would he/she really be that bothered over 2 pills?! Im just shocked that the doc will happily leave you in pain in order the cover their own arse. Im lucky in that my doctors attitude is that if she cant fix the condition thats causing the pain, then she can at least ease the pain to a level where the patient can get some level of normality back. I hope you manage to get your script filled soon and I hope you can find a doctor in the future who will give you the medical treatment you deserve.

Bunge, although I totally agree with what you're say and in some regards it's absurd, but it is what it is (in the States at least). Unfortunately, ever since these types of drugs became so popular for abuse, the DEA and not the individual docs seem to be in charge. Most docs run their practice scared and worry everyday they'll step out of line and get nailed. For me and most CP'ers, this drives me insane in the membrane! It is very hard to switch from one PM doc to another without them pulling back and being cautious. It's just another example of how the government (not to mention insurance companies) put their noses where they don't belong. This defensive, CYA way of practicing medicine is fixing nothing, catching almost none of the "bad" guys and causing more problems than they can ever justify. Sorry, I'll step off my soapbox now.

I feel your pain...Im on OxyContin and my doctors are fucking morons so I get no breakthrough pain, my refill is on the 5th and I have 2mg of Hydromorphone, half a roxicodone 10mg, and one 20mg OxyContin. Luckily my doctor gave me a months worth of fentanyl patches and I hated them from day one and was switched to Hydromorphone way back when, I think I have 1 or 2 patches left, same thing happens at the end of every month though...ugh. Luckily I have a friend who gets 10mg Roxicodone 4x a day and they are on Opana and don't usually need BT meds so I get some loving there :D But damn I hate doctors in my area, I almost overdosed on Fentanyl once because of them and then they gave me to low of a dose of Exalgo...once I called in for a refill and they didn't refill my Hydromorphone for 2 weeks so I had to take some Percocets I had stowed away and they yell at me for taking the Oxy, they said I should have waited...fucking ass holes. My doctor says she can't see my pain so she doesn't like using opioids...shes a friggin pain doctor if you don't like prescribing opioids then GTFO. Anyways yeah it sucks, I have the opportunity to switch to a new doc that supposedly will prescribe ANYTHING and I might honestly tell him I need a much higher dose than I actually need just so Im covered because in the past doctors have cut off my prescriptions without warning and put me in hell, I mean I lost so much because of the hell they put me in.

I think in your situation your entitled to your moment on the soapbox. I know that I spend enough time on mine. :-D
It just seems insane to prescribe strong opiates and then watch like a hawk the use of every single pill from that day forward. I understand that theres a huge problem at the moment
with prescriptions being misappropiated and abused but if you are in genuine need then you shouldnt be treated like a drug-seeker, as you can prob tell that type of attitude really grinds my gears.lol
my auntie while in cancer treatment was given boxes and boxes of oxycodone and morphine, the doctor said she could have as much as she needed. He said just call and ill ring them through to the pharmacy. I can only assume that because oxycodone is so rare as an abused drug in the UK that its not as closely watched.

I hate how cancer patients get thrown narcotics. CANCER ISNT THE ONLY PAIN, I have a rare disease that unfortunately no one but a specialist knows anything about, without narcotics I can NOT function, I also have put holes in my stomach from NSAIDs. There is a lady at my church and she had cancer for a few years and she said she was NEVER uncomfortable because her doctor would give her as much Hydromorphone and Oxycodone as she asked for, she even said it her self that its disgusting that I spent so long uncomfortable. The way the system is set up now is that you have to lie to get what you want, I hate it, I'm big on my word and honesty and if I honestly say "Doc I find Hydromorphone to be a good pain killer but its a bit sedating while Oxycodone has always provided equal pain relief but less sedating, I was wondering if maybe you could put me on OxyContin with Hydromorphone for breakthrough pain" they call me a drug addict and squint their little eyes at me. But if I go in there and fabricate a bunch of stuff and act like a complete moron that doesn't even know how to pronounce half the shit then I get whatever. Only time honesty worked was when I was in the ER and the ER Doc was a family friend and he loaded me up on Oxymorphone, handed me 10mg Percocets in a to go bag then wrote a 10 day script for Percocet, in fact it was wayyyy more than I needed but since I was going back to my regular doctors who at the time were giving me two Vicodin a day for a herniated disc and RA I wasn't going to stop him.

I'm hoping i can get my refill tommorow morning...2 days early.

I'm also currently in some *minor* wd, mainly consisting of coldness, goosebumps, pain, and the general feeling of i need more pills.

Good luck op, we can make it the next few days...hopefully i (or my liver) won't die of an ibuprofen overdose(pushing 3.6 grams as of now, and still hurting). I'm not desperate enough to take loperamide yet, but if i don't get my fill tommorow i might just down the bottle and hope i can shit in a day or 3.

Wow, looks like I'm not the only one. Comforting in a strange way but truly so so depressing we all have to go through this crap. Thanks Treefa and I hope you get through this. I wake up tomorrow and head for the pharmacy. I should drop off to bed soon and hopefully I can sleep straight through. I have a little bit to take in the morning and I should be OK but I sure hope they move it out at the pharmacy and not drag things out. Now "that" could be tough. BTW, my mind started messing with me today and I used a little more than I should have but I should eck it out. Thanks everyone for you help!!

He shoots, he SCORES!! I made it and I finally have my meds. Thanks for all the help and I'll be damn if I'm going to put myself through that shit again. I need to keep saying to myself - control thine self, control thine self (repeat as often as necessary). Unfortunately, what usually happens (and did today to an extent) is when I do finally get the meds in my hands, I go a litle crazy. All in all, I didn't do too much damage and I should be able to "reset" tomorrow and thereafter.

Sheeeww, thanks again everyone for your help and support, gotta love BL and all the wonderful folks who live here.
