Help please!: Frustrated with Poppy Pod Shortcomings

going nowhere

I would first like to apologize profusely if I am posting in the wrong place - I am brand new here. I came here for help. If you can point me to where I should be with this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

Background: I am 25 y/o, 175 lbs, have a small opiate tolerance/experience (it takes me about 30-40 mg of hydrocodone OR roughly 15-20 of oxycodone to get to my ideal "happy place").

My issue is this: I regularly enjoy using opiates - mostly semi-synthetic pharms - and they're really all I like. I don't even drink. I've read a lot of buzz online about dried poppy pods and PPT and whatnot, and I found a guy who sells them in my area, so I bought a half-pound for $60 out of curiosity. I know pretty much nothing about this stuff but they looked almost exactly like this, but a tad smaller and maybe a little lighter in color:

http://cdn4.fast-serve.net/cdn/UK-Flower-Power/DUTCH-5-K-G-EXPORT-QUALITY-BOX-WORLD-BEATER-Giant-Hybrid-Dried-Pods-USA_700_600_5F8MH.jpg

I followed all the info I could find on PPT pretty much to the letter - I weighed one pod, removed the stems/crowns/seeds from all, ground the pods to a fine dust and mixed it all together in a bag...and then I tried SEVERAL times, following several different recipes, to prepare and consume them.

I brewed tea on the stove (not boiling) for over an hour with lemon juice, strained and drank...shook up grounds in a container and let sit for a day, then drank...ate the grounds in yogurt, etc. etc. etc. I started with a teaspoon of grounds, but I used as much as 2 1/2 tablespoons (my scale said 11 grams) at one point, and I never got any euphoria from it at all.

In fact, what this stuff does to me, is about 20-30 minutes after consuming, my legs and trap muscles feel incredibly sore, my neck feels stiff, I have a headache and am sort of lightheaded. It is really awful. The reason I kept trying, even though it was having that effect on me, is because when I've had IV morphine in the past, it has also caused my neck to be sore, so I assumed that was just a morphine reaction?

But no euphoria has ever followed, and I hear this stuff is supposed to be fucking incredible. I should also say that everything I read suggested that the finished PPT should be dark and taste awful - mine has never been either. No matter how long I steep or what method I use, it is always some shade of cloudy, dark gold and the taste isn't great, but people say it makes them vomit, and mine is never that bad - it just tastes like kind of bitter flowers, lol.

So, experienced poppy pod users, I beg you, what the fuck? What's going on??? Is it the pods? Is it me? I'm really frustrated and disappointed. Please, any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

:(

I am pretty sure you just massively under dosed. I believe a dose of several entire poppy heads is required.

Hmm...okay. Thank you for your response!
It just seems like I would have felt something. Any idea how much we're talking in terms of grams or teaspoons/tablespoons?

Also, any idea what's up with the achey, sore, stiff, headachey thing? Is that normal? Do you guys get this too???

You have bad pods.

The problem is, crude preparations of opium (such as poppy tea) contain many chemicals -> Components of opium

The main desirable chemicals in opium are morphine and codeine.

The ratios of each chemical in the opium can vary widely. For example, the Norman variety of Papaver Somniferum is grown for the pharmaceutical industry, it is very low in morphine and high in thebaine; consuming opium derived from this strain of poppies would not produce desirable effects.

My guess is that you simply have poppies with a non-recreational balance of alkaloids, they might be high in thebaine like the Norman variety or something else undesirable. Thebaine itself is known to cause nausea, but I don't know if it can account for your side-effects. However, there are dozens of other chemicals in opium, one or more of which may be the culprit.

EDIT:

Also I'm pretty sure you didn't just massively under-dose, you wouldn't get those bad side-effects if that was the case. That's potentially dangerous advice. 11g of some good poppies would knock me out, I have dosed between 3g and 5g many times, and I did not experience those side effects. Typical effects of good pods are sedation, analgesia and nausea to varying degrees. But as I said, the alkaloid content of poppies varies widely, that's why it's important to dose small at first and titrate until you know the relative strength of the batch you're using. The next batch could be very different in chemical composition and strength.

Okay. Thank you so much. So it's just a bad batch, then? That would make sense. Have you (or anyone else here) experienced this yourself???

A bad batch yes, I think so.

I have not experienced those effects from pods, nor have I read about it happening to anyone else. Pods are known to be very inconsistent though.

So how do I know, if I buy more pods, if they are a good batch? What should I be looking for? Because the ones that I had, compared to pics that I've seen, seemed to be legit.

(btw, I sent you a pm as well)

You have a shit strain, rather than batch. Use another source that has user feedback from an independent website (they are faked otherwise).

I have used a lot pods years back when they were more available. The tea hit me ok, mind you I had a higher tolerance than the OP's, but what really hit me even harder was grinding them down to a fine powder and then mixing it with orange juice and bit of lemon juice. Its hard getting the stuff down, but this method was far better than making teas for me and my friends view. I would be high for like two days if I dosed high enough.

I usually needed atleast 10gs dried powder to feel anything, and 20-40gs to nod heavily and feel great, but always use caution as pods vary in strength.

What did they taste like? What did your tea look like? I hear the taste is atrocious, but that hasn't been my experience with these. They taste kind of similar to psilocybin mushrooms - not as bad though, IMO. My tea looks like this no matter my method or time brewed:

Someone, anyone, please answer this if you can. ^

Edit: Is this the color the tea is supposed to be???
