Benzos + Alcohol = Say hello to Mr.Hyde

I took 2-3 Xanax bars with a half bottle of Vodka or so and proceeded to tag along with some friends to a casino. Upon arrival I was taking food and drinks off peoples (strangers) plates, pulling gamblers slot machines, making conversation with poor people who wanted nothing to do with me, I went through 2 packs of cigs, which his unheard of for me, and at one point I feel into a drink cart. I was not kicked out, go figure.

The other time I mixed the two I ended up in Jail. Be careful.

Zeano we are only offering our experience mixing benzos & ethanol. No one is trying to scaremonger you just warn you of the potential effects.

Now you can make an informed decision on the subject. Having a few beers & a couple of valium is not bad by itself. The problem is most of us have woken up way too many times with empty blisters & no recollection of past events. Usually led to by a few beers and vals.

It seems you were waiting for someone to say do it as 10 people have told you not to do it and one or two have said its ok, and your going to listen to the minority? People arent using scare tactics, theyre speaking from personal experience! Im sorry but you dont sound like the most mature or responsible person as everyone in here is giving you good, personal advice and they are in no way trying to make you scared or anxious, you are making yourself anxious by trying to convince yourself that somehow you will be fine mixing benzos and alcohol when its possible and you know its possible that you wont be ok. You might be fine the first time but have a similar or even smaller amount next time and not be ok. Its unlikely you will die but more likely do something stupid or dangerous and black out. If you did die it wouldnt likely be due to an OD but something resulting from your behavious under the infuence. Ive walked head on to cars on a main road once before, I didnt snap out of it until the car beeped and I obviously wasnt blacked out then as I remember it, so I probably wasnt on that much.

I suffer from very bad anxiety myself and have for many years so I know how it feels to just want a second of relief from the constant struggle. Ive mixed benzos and alcohol and been fine, but there are other times that ive mixed benzos with a small amount of acohol and done some very stupid and dangerous things. We have tried to tell you that its not a good idea but you dont want to listen. What more do you want? We could lie to you and tell you that you will definitely be fine even if you do take a small amount but thats not what bluelight is about, its about factual information and harm reduction surrounding drug use and that lie would be providing you with neither factual information or HR.

Do what you will but I suggest against it, I have a feeling your going to go against all of our advice and do it anyway. Id suggest to just take more of the benzo, even up to 15-20mg isnt going to make you OD, try taking 15mg at once when your especially anxious at home with your gf with no alcohol and tell us how it goes, if you dont get any relief from your anxiety then maybe valium isnt for you.

This is no means dis-regarding what you have said the_ketman. And I understand that I am lookin for people to say I will be fine......because in all fairness I am looking for that. But please don't call me immature or not responsible as if you have read all the posts leading to this one, I clearly state I can have 1 beer and stop. infact tonight I did just that. Now if you read 90% of the other posts it seems to be people taking a lot more quantities that I am talking about when they get in 'these states.

Im sorry but if you take benzo's and half a bottle of vodka.....like people have said then what do you expect? half a bottle of vodka alone would get me kicked out of places......do very stupid stuff.......not remember the night before well......just the vodka alone.

I was more looking for re-assurance that one or two English pints of lager is highly un-likely to cause me any problems with diazepam. Also like stated above, I understand that its harm reduction and stuff.........if I said I was planning a big night out and taking vallium then I would understand. It just seems hard for people to believe that when I say 1 beer I mean 1 beer etc etc . And would prefer what people would think what would happen with 1 beer and a daily dose of 10mg diazepam (took throughout the day, not at the point of drinking). Then hear story after story of getting wrecked and taking vallium........because if I had no knowledge a all, I could guess what could happen....

one pill and a few drinks isn't a big deal, it's generally a bad combo (some call it the "jailhouse cocktail") but don't take any more than one valium or like 2-3 drinks depending on your size. personally i weigh 280 lbs, have a high tolerance and can take like 2-3mg of klonopin, 6-8 drinks and not black out but my size and tolerance probably don't apply to you.

it's up to you, really, when it comes down to it. THAT BEING SAID: look at the warning on your bottles. it doesn't necessarily say "do not consume alcohol with this medication" but it DOES say "alcohol may intensify the effects." which is a nice way of saying "don't mix these two drugs."
i am prescribed 1mg klonopin twice a day for anxiety but i have a beer for breakfast (johny cash? lol) every morning with my klonopin AND my promethazine AND my bupe, too, and i have never had a problem. i also usually have two or three beers at night with my nightly bupe and klonopin doses. sometimes if i feel like killing a few extra beers, i skip the klonopin just for the night or i only take .5mg, instead.
again, i mix em...but telling someone it is okay to drink with benzos is the opposite of HR lol. peace

tolerance to alcohol is a non-issue, the effects of the benzos mixed with alcohol will come in to play before you ever feel the effects of the drink. that is to say, the alcohol will exploit the effects of benzos even when that amount of alcohol alone would do nothing to the individual.

these two work together to slow down mental activity and cause irrational thinking.

if i had not seen it firsthand with someone very tolerant to alcohol succumbing to the madness without drinking enough to feel the effects of alcohol I would support your decision.

the problem is i have done this experiment, played it as safely as you are suggesting and had it spiral out of control.

even if you try it in a safe place and succeed, there's no guarantee that your results can be duplicated.

I see no safe way to combine the two, i hope you reconsider and if not i hope you are lucky enough to make it through unharmed and unembarassed.

I suffer from anxiety and recently have made strides in my treatment, i will say citralopam worked well for me, but only after two weeks into treatment. you will most likely need to up your dose after a while, communicate with you doctor often. good luck.

Yeah... it's definitely "tread carefully"? For me, 1mg of etiz + a couple beers *really* made the nod-off aspect of alcohol more pronounced. I wouldn't want to be at a party where I know I was going to have more. I've had a better combination experience with phenibut and alcohol, but there's too little data on that to even make me comfortable thinking that combination is "relatively safe".

I've just read this thread from start to finish and this is my first ever post on here as I'm intrigued as to "what happened next"?
im on Citalopram 40 mg a day,valium about 10mg and Zopiclone(sleeping tablets) as and when needed(3.75mg maybe 3 times a week).
Ive dabbled with lots of other gear that was more recreational but I'm giving that a rest at mo.
so my question is "did you find out what you can drink or how much without getting totally upside down and getting into trouble"
I've blacked out a couple of times and learnt my limits,3/4 litres of vodka and some vally and I'm a proper space cadet and a bit of a twat.so I found that 2 glasses of wine and I'm cool and the gang.
so that was my first post, I will wait and see what posts I receive.
btw I know it's not big and clever to say how much gear you can do, that's not what I'm saying, I'm just saying I found my limit and stuck to it.

Not too sure if you gonna get a response from the OP bud, thread is a year and 3 months old. Personally if I have more than 2 ales on a single mg of Xanax Im more than likely to black out. I dont know why thats just my tipping point for some reason. However Ive only rarely used benzos to the point of physical dependence, just 1 WD taught me my lesson. Also if liquor is brought into the equation at any point, its all over. I was on Librium too for awhile doing all sorts of odd things in blackouts if I had more than 2 or 3 brews or liquor. I tried to get my flu shot twice at Rite Aid last year, I still get a chuckle over that one.
