your requirements are kind of vague... what is your budget?

if most of what you do is browser based, just get a chromebook. you can get a modest spec., used one on ebay.co.uk for 50ukp. if you go up to 150ukp, you have a lot of options.

In all seriousness, I'd recommend buying new if at all possible. Laptops are expensive to fix if anything goes wrong and if you buy from eBay/Gumtree, you don't have the protection of the Sale of Goods Act.

I actually really want to know the same as FG. Is second hand not as good as first hand? I know it comes with it's problems but when price it the main focal point you really need some guidance. I know I do.

It's pot luck really. Buy a good one and you're set. Accidentally end up with a lemon and it'll either become a money pit, or end up in the bin (BER) .

Pick of the three; an eighty seven quid dell.

Buy through Paypal, or get somebody to do so for you and if any of them are not as described you can get your money back, no quibbles. I'd go for the Dell myself. There's hundreds of similar deals on there though. Have a look.
