Help! My friend burned mescaline. Is it still good?

My friend was boiling a big batch of cactus tea and after getting the liquid to a manageable level, strained the resin out of the cactus pieces and attempted to boil it down even further. But, much to his dismay, he returned to find it completely dehydrated and burnt to a crisp. He then freaked out and took it out and dissolved it in some water. So his question is, are the desired chemicals still active? The solution seems to have a similar consistency as the tea, but he is unsure about the effects of heat on alkaloids. Thank you all for helping this guy out!

Maybe, it depends how hot it got. If it's charred I'd say there's no chance. Either way it's really gotta taste like crap now.

Damn, sad news.
It's definitely charred though. I think he'll probably try it anyways because it would be such a shame to throw it all away! Either way, there's always next time.

Does it still taste of mescaline? I dunno, but I guess you can literally taste it in a brew...

hm, that's a good point, I suppose if it tastes mostly the same you have to assume that it kept at least some of it's properties.

Yeah I should have mentioned that, but if it was strained there shouldn't be that much charred shit, like a couple of slices of burnt toast maybe.

I guess it would have tasted so bad anyway that the OP's friend probably wouldn't have been able to drink it.
