My daughter is 15. She has been struggling with depression in the last year. She has had 2 suicide attempts as well. She is in a long term treatment facility right now. She has been taking seroquel, depakote and trileptal. Two weeks ago through nuero testing they found that she is add so they put her on Ritalin.

Just yesterday they just called and said that they are adding amantadine. Saying that with the Ritalin it will help with impulse control.

I had never heard of it so I looked not up. All I.found is that it is used for the influenza A and Parkinson's. Nothing about it being a psych med.

Anyone have any info for me?

I looked it up too. It's said to be sometimes used off-label as an adjunct medicine for depression. Seems like an odd drug to use since she is already taking two antidepressants. I would speak to the doctor and ask if they think this is really necessary. Wishing you and your daughter the best and welcome to Bluelight!
