My mom had knee surgery and was given vicodin 7.5s and percocet.

Today she went to put them all in a different pill bottle, (idk why) But apparently there was water in that bottle and all her pills got wet. She is calling me in hysterics and wants to know if she has to throw them out now?

Does she have to cwe these? Or can she just add a little more water and draw it up like what I do when I plug? Would they last long doing this?

I searched on bl and looked but couldn't see anything regarding this... Any help? I feel bad for her and she has called the pharmacy and is waiting to hear back from them. She is in a lot of pain, she just had her knee replaced..

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

TIA

She can do a CWE, or she can make a solution without extracting the APAP like you're suggesting. Either would work; I'd use alcohol after the pills are dissolved/ extracted to keep bacteria from growing. Which course of action to take really depends on how many pills, how long she needs them for, etc.

There were seven 7.5s and ten 5mgs She said this amount would have lasted her till Tuesday when she gets her refill.

Thank you very much for being so johnny on the spot with this! I will tell her!

Call the doctor and explain the situation. I'm sure as long as she has them as proof and truly "needs" them to survive, although pain is temporary, any decent doctor will replace them. I have had something like so has happened go me and my doc gave me what I needed.

She left a message with her dr office, they are closed on Sunday and she called the pharmacy and they told her to have her dr call them. I had her call the oncall nurse line and she did that earlier and she is still waiting to hear back. I really appreciate all the advice.

Mom got a refill this afternoon! Thanks all for helping me, she ended up using a baby syringe last night and taking that mix orally.. It helped her through the night! I really really appreciate all the help!

Consider the question answered!

lad to hear your mom is good. For future refrence this can all be figured out by a simple CWE and mathamatics.

She can simply take a syringe or a beaker with water, fill it to a disgnated ammount (about 5ml sounds like it woulda done the job), mix it up, than draw it up with that baby syringe the appropiate dose for that ammount.

Example. Lets say I take 3 roxys, crush em, filter, mix em in a syringe filled with 3ml. How many ml would I have to draw up to get 2 roxys?

2ml.

It's that simple.

^Assuming an ideal fully dissolved (i.e. unsaturated solution) the term generally used on BL is 'liquid measurment'. With Vicoden though you'd have to deal with a bunch of equilibriums and mixtures due to APAPs relatively low solubility. A CWE as you mentioned would help simplify things, but would result in lower yields of hydrocodone and in the removal of the majority of the non-narctoic analgesic which might not be desireable for people using their meds for pain management.

Right but it can stil lbe done with the APAP you jusy gotta shake it or stir it before sucking up and not filter and not CWE. Just the best milk shake ever lol
