Help - Missed vein coke Iv

I shot into a vein I haven't used in a month, but apparently it wasn't healed. I have a dull pain in my arm around the vein now and it's all red. WTF should I I do? Am I at a high risk for something really bad like and infection? I'm drinking a lot of water and I took a multi-vitamin but I don't know what else to do....

this has happened with heroin before, but it's usually just a sharp pain that stops right away because you know to pull the needle out when that happens. With this shot of coke, it's a dull, unhealthy feeling kind of pain....

any advice would be appreciated!

I've never IV'ed anything, but at the least I would think that icing the area, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, for about three hours if you have the time. Maybe some ibuprofen for swelling, as it will reduce swelling. If that doesn't help, and it continues to swell and hurt it may be necessary to visit an ER.

Hope things work out, and I'm sure someone will come along that has more info!

Wait 24hr...if it gets worse then seek help...if it is still the same in a day, i would give it 48hrs and if nothing has changed by then, seek help. I've missed before but only a unit or two gets out then i quickly correct it. The area gets red and swollen but after a day it always starts to clear up

You may be getting an abscess, if you get a fever get to the hospital as soon as you can you'll need antibiotics.

Hey OP,

You actually probably want to add heat to the area (at least at first) and gently massage to ensure all the drug is absorbing. Cocaine is a local anesthetic so it is no surprise you aren't feeling much sharp pain. Drinking lots of fluid and taking vitamins I'm afraid won't really help much but I suppose they can't hurt either so long as you don't go overboard.

There really isn't much you can do now but, as has been said, monitor the situation. If you suspect an infection (fever, increased swelling, redness, rash) or abscess (like a large pimple) you probably want to get yourself to the doctor. Basically if anything gets worse.
