No one seems to smoke menthols around here, hmm?

I dont mind the odd menthol, i use to smoke them heaps when i first picked up the dreadful habbit.

I do LOVE a good menthol when on X...

These cigarettes are made entirely of a blend of Cuban black leaf tobacco that is selected by true connoisseurs of Cuban leaf tobacco coming from the Vuelta Abajo region specifically, from the farms in San Juan and San Luis, two of the best in the country.

A mate of mine used to smoke Death Cigarattes, they had a skull and cross bones on the pack and it said in big letters "Smoking WILL KILL YOU"
I think they were 16mg or whatever the highest strength is...

Death was a brand of cigarette introduced in the United Kingdom in 1991 by entrepreneur BJ Cunningham, who established a company calling itself The Enlightened Tobacco Company. The packaging was black and featured a white skull and crossbones above the mandatory Government health warning. It marketed itself as the only brand that was completely honest about the dangers of cigarette smoking.

The company created a tax arbitrage scheme offering cigarettes from Luxembourg to UK smokers, and allowed customers to buy its products by mail order, thus paying Luxembourg tobacco duty instead of higher UK taxes. The European Court of Justice eventually ruled in favour of the UK Customs and Excise, who insisted that customers had to personally transport the goods into the UK to avoid paying duties at the point of entry. This ruling effectively put an end to the Enlightened Tobacco Company, but Death lives on in select markets.

The Enlightened Tobacco Company was dissolved on 14 September 1999[1]

Does anyone else find it annoying that packets don't have the mg's on them anymore? Sure, the government is trying to send the message that all cigarettes do damage or whatever, but every now and then, I like to try a different brand, and without knowing how many mg's each different colour is, it's hard to make a comparision.
Back to the subject, I've always smoked winfield blues. Every now and then will have dunhill blues. If you want to try something different, maybe get the charcoal winnie blues. I personally dont like them that much (I want to feel the smoke going down damnit) but a few of my friends swear by them.

I smoke Dunhill Greys...the 4mg ones. I have been smoking for years and wish I'd never started, Sure I like it. But I'd like it a whole lot better if I didn't need to smoke 20 a day.

Personally, I would only ever smoke rollies. Have you ever opened up a tailor cig and had a look at the 'tobacco'? I do not know how they can call that stuff tobacco... it looks more like some dried out chemical treated wood chips. If your going to smoke tobacco to appreciate the flavour and what not, like you say, you should definately try smoking real tobacco (from pouches). It actually looks, smells and feels like it was cultivated from a living plant. And unlike that other crap, rollie tobacco actually goes stale after a while (like plant matter should).

And BTW the flavour you get from Tailor cigs isnt from the tobacco. Hell, that stuff is probably chinese newspaper for all we know. Its just the chemicals and shit they add to it to make that shit taste like its tobacco. Whereas when you smoke real tobacco the flavour comes from the plant and the way it was cultivated and mixed e.t.c.

My favourite blend is Drum Regular Premium Shag, it kind of tastes nutty and sweet. Its a very nice smoke and its mild enough to be enjoyed as a day smoke. Just make sure its the one sourced from the Neverlands because theres a knock off one grown from the States that isnt as nice. It comes in a 30g and 50g pouch costing somewhere between $15 - 23 depending on size.

Or if your after something stronger and more rich (like a desert smoke) there is a nice blend called Port Royal that is a port flavoured smoke. Smoking out of a nice wood pipe will give you the best results for flavour, but a well rolled cig should suffice. Use Ultra Slim Filters for quick easy rolling.

If you are truly passionate about your tobacco leave the Tailors for the nicotine addicts and start smoking some real tobacco. It works out cheaper too ;)

^ True. Rollies are infinitely more economical - one major problem is the dreaded rollie finger (or hand if you're on speed - yay for orange hands, especially when you touch your eyes.) The taste is nice - I can generally enjoy any rollie, but find any cigarette besides my usual brand is a bit disgusting.

What papers do people find best? I personally dislike the taste and roll Tally-Hos give you - Papers work best for me.

Yeah my oldman has been smoking rollies for over 40 years and his thumbs have gone yellow lol. I usually use a brand of papers called Black Death. But yeah i'm not really picky with my papers. However, I find the best papers are the ones that have the horizontal layers across them. They tend to burn more evenly and smoke alot smoother. I agree with you on the Tally Ho's, definately overated...and they burn strangely aswell.

Winnie Reds are a nice, strong smoke. Puts hair on your chest. Marlboro Reds when they were 16s were a fantastic winter cigarette, they would give a thick tangy taste and a nice warming feeling as opposed to the more thin harsher Winnie feel. Sky-blues to me are too weak and don't have much thickness to them, which leads to a very unsatisfying smoke. Davidoffs are great, a better than average smoke and fantastic packaging.

But I agree with the rollies, been smoking them for many years now, never get yellow fingers or lips anymore either. Port Royale is the best taste I've ever had, smells lovely too, lacks some punch though especially since I've been smoking White Ox for some time now. Drum is nice because it tastes more like a cigarette should and is well balanced though quite unexciting. They used to have this stuff called Flagship which was a great smoke, almost as good as Port Royal and was the easiest tobacco to roll, short thick strands that stayed moist meant a pleasure to roll. But if you have just woke up feeling ratty as hell after a night out, nothing kicks you in the balls like white ox, not even those 32mg imports, unfortunately it is always real dry, tastes like dog shit and is very hard to roll compared to other brands.

EDIT: Oh yes, rollie papers, Tally-Ho is no good IMO, too smooth, burns in mysterious ways. Ventti is good, as is Rollie, in fact anything that isn't Tally-Ho. Anything with a textured surface is generally good to roll with.

I roll my own..
tailor made ciggarettes taste like shit. you can taste the chemicals in them with every drag.
I smoke Drum Blue. the taste is superb, full flavour of the tabbaco and no chemical taste.
i used to smoke tailor made but ever since i tried a rollie i have never looked back. it may not look as 'cool' or whatever but they sure as hell taste 100x better than any tailor

whats with the hate of tally hos? i think they're pretty good. I've tried ventti but they're too thick and taste like cardboard for me at least.. i haven't tried much else apart from those two though..

RIGHT

Can everyone in a country where mg's are still quoted on packets, please list quantities in the following manner:

<Cigarette Name> Tar, Nicotine, Carbon Monoxide (if available)

I'll start with the two packs I have in front of me now:

Marlboro Light. Tar:6mg, Nicotine:0.5mg, Carbon Monoxide:7mg

Richmond Superkings. Tar:10mg, Nicotine:0.9mg, Carbon Monoxide:10mg

I know these values vary from country to country but it takes 5 minutes to list them and if you're trying different brands and want a low/high tar variant then it's essential. Personally, I'd just ask the guy serving you to show the packet and you can take a look.

Thanks technix. I haven't touched rollies for years but I'm happy to try various brands if I have the chance of finding something I prefer. I'll get some drum blue next time I'm out of cigs.
