Everyone has had different opinions about the differences between indica and sativa and I've never gotten any consistent answers so I'm confused. Here goes, I started smoking weed a year and a half ago and since have had several breaks each months long. I used to smoke a lot and would get uplifting hallucinogenic highs and I'd get very paranoid. I'd really zone into another world but I was still aware what was going on and could remember it the next day and it was great. Then I quit smoking for a few months again and just started again about a month ago.

I've been smoking almost every night now, but very small amounts. I skip a night or two a few times a week to keep my mental tolerance at baseline. When I would smoke I would take 2-3 hits at most, about half a bowl spread out over a twenty minute period. Less is more so I don't feel compelled to smoke more then that. I feel a very strong body high and euphoria for the first 10-30 mins. Then it becomes very sedating and I feel kind of lazy. I don't feel like getting up off the chair to go inside, especially once I've had a cigarette. Those really amplify the effects lol. Sometimes I can't remember what happened during the duration of the high like I used to. I kind of zone out. I don't ever have a hard time falling asleep at least. I've tried drinking coffee or energy supplements before smoking to increase alertness and energy but it doesn't help. I have multiple strains that smell sweet and fruity with a small hint of a skunk earthy scent. The buds are thick sticky and dense. Seriously these buds smells amazing, like a bowl of fruit or candy. They smell different then the stuff that got me those wicked highs in the past. When I smoke now all I get is a zoning out lazy type of high, not uplifting at all and not the way I remember. I just started again a month ago so I don't think I need a tolerance break. I'm getting pretty baked but not the way I remember. Its a different type of baked altogether and I feel it has to do with the strain. What's going on and what strain is this?

Honestly I can't tell the difference between Indica and Sativa. I smoke both, both get me high the same way.

I don't have a chemical background to support my theory and I can't find any source so I may be dead wrong. I believe if your weed is old and has decarbed already or a significant portion has self decarbed, when you combust it the delta 9 with convert to CBN and give you sleeper weed.

Because you mention your weed is sticky I can't imagine it being old. My theory could be wrong I can only find speculation not a substantial supporting claim.

Indica has more cbd than sativa does. Sativa strains generally give a more energetic high while indica is more of a "couchlock" type of high... unless u are receiving is from a medical dispensary it is nearly impossible to find a strain that is not a hybrid of the two . The strain skunk#1 was the first successful crosbeed of the 2 ... sativa is a large plant that carries high yields while indica is a small bushy plant with much lover yields but contains more cbd and thc than a typical sativa. The breeding of these to species of these beautiful healthy plants allowed easier indoor growth resulting in the ability to create sensimilla(no seeds) which is why our pot of today is much stronger than what ur dad smoked in the 60's if u are able to find pure sativa or pure indica there is a very noticeable difference... hope this helps

The general rule is sativas provide a stimulative hallucinogenic like effects, while indicas provide a sedative narcotic like effects.

BUT the thing is there has been so much interbreeding that there are very few pure strains of either kind.

Most are hybrids which will share the traits of both indica and sativa.

Sounds like the current strains you're smoking that are making you feel stoned out and lazy are indica dominant, and that the uplifting hallucinogenic weed you enjoyed was a sativa dominant strain.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Really appreciated. I thought there was something wrong with my cb receptors and I couldn't get high the same way lol. I have found more sativa dominant strains and have enjoyed them and have learned to enjoy the indicas.

Try vaping, it always makes me feel less 'stoned' and more alert but it could just be a placebo. Also consider looking for new higher quality strains from markets.

Thc, flower candy liquid vape you name it iv smoked it. So
Basics:
sativa is ofcourse your upper, ideal for wake n bakes early morning after waking etc. Good for anxiety stress depression energy and then ofcourse general thc effects
Most of the time the highest thc content strains are full indica or hybrid. Obviously good for sleep, relaxation, if good for pain will have indica in the strain somewhere.
If you need CBD'S (Anti inflammatory property of pot) you will need a cbd specific strain which are rare. Usually low thc mixed with cbd. Ex; recently at my shop I saw a strain that was only 10% thc weak right? But 9% cbd. So it's for real pain needs. I always prefer sativa usually but it depends.
For flower, not wax or oil etc. Some of the best strains
Strawberry nightmare (27.5% thc, hybrid)
Matuskinthunderfuck (26% thc, sativa)
Cookies *formerly known as girl scout cookies, name is changed due to conflict with real girl scout cookies lol. Iv seen it changed half the time is my favorite ever smoked as long as it's legit cookies. Usually is 24-28% thc. Is my all time favorite strain as long as it's real.
I know this was long, if u have any deeper or more complex thc questions feel free to PM me. Peace

is that true? every time i get indicas from the dispensary they are lower in cbd and the sativa strains are always higher (.50% for indicas and 1.5% for sativas) could just be the dispensary i go to but they lab test everything for each cannabinoid and terpenes as well.

sounds like you have a heavy indica strain. I would try buying a good sativa strain (green cracks my favorite)

An indica strain is good if you can't go to sleep, or if you just want to chill with some friends and play Xbox all day. Sativas always make me want to go talk to people and do stuff and put me in a great mood
