Help! I'm scared of the anxiety of Shrooms!!

Please help, I've taken Shrooms twice before, the first time was in a horrible setting and I started tripping so bad in a negative way I was sweating and crying, but, ended up being a really good trip, second time I took the same amount but, puked it out 20mins in because of the anxiety (I still tripped tho) it was alright, I was planning on tripping today, and I couldn't...

So... what can I do to kill that fucking anxiety?

1.Maybe shrooms just arent for me?
2.Maybe acid would be more my drug?
3.I don't understand I've K-holed soooooo many times and have no problem with it.
4.WTF what would you do?
5.Is shrooms tea a way better way to ingest?
6.Each time I did shrooms I've chewed them to moosh...

Pre-trip anxiety is quite common, you're definitely not the only one to experience it. It is magnified by any unpleasant experiences on a particular substance due to association, so the expectancy of those negative feelings is holding you back.

In my experience, those underlying expectancies and associations are actually distortions of the amount of 'unpleasantness' you experienced before, in other words your mind is making you remember the worst parts and increasing their relative importance in size, as a protection mechanism from any further future bad experiences. Because let's face it, some of those bad moments on psychedelics can be the most horrendous thing a human being can experience and often pretty traumatic, but you do get through it. It's just a matter of if the rest of the trip was worth it. It most all cases I would say yes, for the above reason that - if we are not talking about a full-blown bad trip - those moments are usually very transient and give way to the most splenderous and magical moments one could ever witness.

The trick is to overcome your psychological defense mechanisms by just 'jumping in' so to speak. This may precipitate a subsequent feeling of "shit, what the fuck did I just do?" but you must remind yourself that you are not going to be ruled by fear, and you as every other living being deserve to experience the phantasmic wonders of the psychedelic experience.

Shroom tea is a great way of dosing shrooms - you can flavour it with a tea bag of your choice such as lemon, ginger, or chamomile, and it is a soothing way to start the whole trip. I find the idea of eating the shrooms more nauseating than tea (which isn't nauseating at all), although I'm not averse to it. All in all starting the trip in the most relaxed and comfortable way is what is important.
 
Yeah I kinda figured most o'f what you said on my own, but, I needed to hear it from someone else that agrees. I dont think I'm going to man up and do these tho, I'll save my third shrooming for next spring when I will be craving them more and forget about the negatives of the trip. The funny part is I don't even remember the bad parts of the trip at all... I only remember the good, but I just know the bad was fucking AWFUL.

P.S. shroom and ginger tea sounds great i will probably try that =). ooh and maybe a hint of lemon twist lmao.
 
i recommend 4-aco-dmt. it's very similar to shrooms, but has way milder side effects. i know people who hate shrooms due to the discomfort is puts them in (i sure hope i'm not one of these people, as i haven't tried mushies myself yet) but they absolutely love 4aco.

Me neither, just telling you how to stop being anxious. I don't even like kpins or xanax, but they really do stop you from being anxious. You can try other anti anxiety stuff, but I'd suggest just taking shrooms as they are, you may never stop being anxious, but having a good setting around you and knowing what will happen is helpful. I personally choose to take 2CE as its much cheaper and produces something that doesn't fuck you up, I always know I'm tripping and can do everything normally if I choose to.
 
It works really well for me to take kpins, xanax or my personal favorite opiates.
 
Could someone link me to a good Shroom Tea recipe? I made it once before but my psilocybin tolerance was way up and I didn't really feel it.
 
I had the same experience with acid. My first trip was great (2 hits @0:00 1 more @4:00). Second was phenominal (4 hits). My third was religious (candy flipping with my girlfriend in her bedroom .5 MDMA + 7 tabs thru the day). Then the fourth..... something happened. I only had two hits that time which was the worst part. I just flipped and couldn't do it. After that I thought maybe LSD isnt for me anymore. So I went to shrooms and flipped shit again. After waiting about a year to trip again, I had an amazing mushroom experience a few weeks ago. Try just giving it a rest and reflecting on your trips for a long period of time. Not allowing yourself the proper relfection time is like taking half the experience away
 
not true...ive gotten drunk as fuck while taking shrooms....and as far as liver toxicity goes, because its not your liver processing the psilocybin (its your stomach and brain, and to a lesser extent, your kidneys) its really no different from just drinking
 
4-aco-dmt is great and doesn't make me nauseous/anxious at all; the only anxiety i had was from a manic episode I had on a really high dose. Pre-trip anxiety is just something most people deal with, the come up on shrooms is pretty fast (same with 4-aco-dmt) before you know it you will feel euphoria which will get rid of that anxiety. I find many of the 2c's give me incredible anxiety during the come up. I found LSD caused far less anxiety than shrooms but you have to be in the right mindstate and have a rough idea of how strong it is.

Don't be afraid, just keep your dose reasonable and if you tend to get sick/anxious during the come up, take some diphenhydramine an hour or so before you dose, this will dull your anxiety a bit and kill the nausea (ginger tea is also a great idea for nausea).

Shrooms may not be for you but ime the majority of psychedelics will cause some anxiety during the come up. I think the pre-trip anxiety mostly has to do with prior experience. (for example: 5-meo-dmt scares the living shit out of me and the pre-trip anxiety makes me very nervous about ever using it again)

A benzo will definitely kill your anxiety but I think part of the fun of tripping is that intense anxiety and then relief once it kicks in. Benzos dull the trip to a certain extent but also allow you to take a lot higher of a dose without any anxiety.

If you don't have a serious anxiety disorder of some sort; it's probably due to prior experience as explained in the above posts. I usually just impulsively dose then suffer through the anxiety until it kicks in. It works out great in most cases; don't forget set and setting.

1. Mushrooms are considered to be a very anxiogenic hallucinogen, moreso then many of the "common" drugs.
2. Maybe. LSD is generally calmer then mushrooms. Can still cause extreme panic and anxiety though; possibly easier to process then mushroom terror.
3. Ketamine is so different as to make comparison pointless. K shuts down a lot of the fear and emotional parts of the brain (but can still cause panic).
4. I would take neither acid or mushrooms if I thought I would freak out.,
5. Shroom tea generally kicks in faster, so can actually be more intense. That said, if you slowly sip at it you can titrate your dose a lot easier. If the expereince gets too intense, stop drinking.
6. Depending on how long you did this, Chewing would mean that sublingual absorption occured; this will result in the drug kicking in faster.

Don't try and force yourself to enjoy mushrooms (or any hallucinogen). You might want to do so, but the proof is in the pudding- theres not many things worse then realsing you don't want to be tripping and yet you've just swallowed a big pile of fungus. If anything, start low...:)
 
i don't really experience any type of negative anxiety when coming up on 4-aco-dmt. when i can start to feel it coming up, i just get these "zaps" that make it feel like i'm free-falling for a second or 2, and i actually like the way it makes me feel.

i do notice some anxiety with lsd, however.
 
^They can be really intense... IME they can make me more emotional than any other psychedelic. I hear this from a few others as well.
 
Mushrooms are very emotional, I will agree with that for sure. They also come in waves, and one minute you'll be trippin' balls, the next minute you're okay, only to be swept away again the next moment. One second you could be anxious, and then on a dime be laughing hysterically about something. Random outburts and stuff...I really love mushrooms...they so crazy
