Help Identifying San Pedro Cacti

I live in the desert and I recently learned that San Pedro cacti are relatively commonly grown decoratively in people's yards. Though I would not take them out of someone's yard, I would like to be able to ID them just for curiosity sake. I've been looking around on the internet for cactus field guides, but I haven't had much success. If anyone knows of any free ones it would be appreciated.
Also, has anyone taken a san pedro cactus from someone's yard and used it?

nope, I belive that's a Peruvian apple cactus. It looks similar to a San Pedro, but it does not contain mescaline. I have made the same mistake myself. live and learn.

It appears to be Cereus.

It is not psychoactive.

It has tasty fruit tho.

Hmmmm interesting. The only sweet fruit from cacti I've had are Opuntias (Prickly Pears).

I wonder how this would taste in comparison.

According to wikipedia San Pedro Cactus can grow fruit. Any one else ever heard this?
