HELP: I had a needle break off inside of my arm...

...and I am scared shitless.

It happened about 15 minutes ago. It was a short needle. I'm not sure if it was still in the vein when it broke off or not.

I need some help here guys...

Should I be taking this very seriously, as in go to the emergency room NOW... or should I wait to see what it looks like in the morning.

I am scared shitless and need to know what to do.
 
Can you see it? Is there an abscess? Is it sore?

... Your best bet is to go to the emergency room, they will remove it and probably prescribe anti-biotics to stop any possible infection.

I have never had this happen to me, but supposedly it happened to a friend and he never had it checked out and he is fine... But again, i'd seek professional attention... if only to be on the safe side.

You might be able to find your answer in there before someone answers you here.

I would recommend going to the doctor/ER though.

You had a needle break off in your arm, possibly in the vein, and you're sitting on the computer asking a bunch of strangers on the internet if you're going to be okay? I'm sorry but to me that just sounds dumb.. Not trying to be harsh, but I think you are seriously under-estimating the severity of what can happen if a needle breaks off, in your vein. There is a chance it can travel thru your circulatory system causing major problems.

Nobody on here is a doctor and we cannot see your arm in person.. The only logical answer anyone on here can give you is to go to the hospital. Gambling with something as important as your health/life is not a smart thing at all.
 
How did you manage to break a needle off inside of you if you don't mind me asking? Was it just old and worn/bent? I hope you ended up at the hospital, good luck.

This is my first post on this site but it is important that you seek immediate help from a doctor at the ER. This is something that is potentially life threatening and should be examined further. It would also be a good idea for someone to drive instead of you in case of a sudden shift in position of the needle fragment.

I would also like to note that this should not freak you the fuck out but don't have the good ol "I will wait it out mentality on this one"

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!! i just watched Requiem for a Dream....that was some scary fucking shit....

anyways the main dude has some complications with needles and he ends up having to get his arm AMPUTATED
