My husband has been prescribed Methadone for Pain for 2 years now since his back injury.
He never abuses it and doesn't even get high from it.
He missed his dr appointment and he realized on Thursday that he might run short since his doc was closed Fri, sat, sun and today (Monday) was Veterans day.
A family member is visiting that takes Suboxone 8mg strips. (Or film?)
My husband takes between 30 and 60 mg of Methadone per day depending on his pain level.
My husband took his last dose of Methadone (20mg) last night at 7pm.
He was not doing too well all day today. His pain was almost severe and withdrawals kicked in this afternoon.
He took the 8mg Suboxone film at 7pm. 7:30 he said he felt nothing. 8pm, nothing, 9pm, nothing.
9:30 he said he was feeling worse.
Now I'm not sure if the suboxone was not enough, or is he in precipitated Withdrawals?
His doctor overnighted his regular prescription of Methadone plus Percocet for the extra pain. He will have it in 12 hours.
My questions are
1- If someone was to go into precipitated withdrawals for starting suboxone too soon- how soon do you feel the withdrawals?
2- does it seem to be precipitated withdrawals or just reg withdrawals?
3- if it is Prec Withdrawals, how long does it last?
4- is it safe for him to take his Methadone / Percocet in the morning?
He took 2 ambium that we keep in the house in case of a bad night and he seems to be feeling really silly right now. So at least he isn't in agony right now. But I am still very worried.
Also not sure if size or body structure matters but my Hubby is a big man. 6'2, 300 lbs and not a light weight at all.
Please help. We have no experience with this kind of thing. Not sure what to do.
Thanks.
