Iam astounded at peoples lack of knowledge of 'pills' and health related issues in canberra. A recent dance party i attended (passion. i couldnt believe that people were unaware of basic knowledge such as water consumption per hour, most were unaware that a fair percentage of pills contain speed or other substances some potentially dangerous or life threating (i pointed out to them most of the pills in canberra are just speed bombs and other dangerous concotions)around 3% of pills in canberra are the real deal. As for an ez-tester forget it! (i had many a conversation with people at passion about if they tested, as soon as i mentioned an ez-tester the response was "Huh whats that and what does it do" or "oh i trust my d/d, he said he tested it, he was completly 'smashed', didnt have any adverse reactions or anything and went for hrs." or "yeah they told me it was the real deal-mdma and i would be smiling hard". I even asked if they buy on the night most answered 'yes'i asked them how much they were paying (usual $50 but some said they paid $60). I know iam being very critical here on this and we all werent the knowledge base we are now without bluelight but iam astounded even after telling them about this site they still dont get off there arses and do something to educate themselves. I even know friends of magoo up here and they dont test, as they purchased a green (forgotten the name of it, its on pillreports) and it tested orange. Iam at a total loss as where to even start motivating/educating the crowd up here. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

yep... common thing this is mr giggles... the Perth Scene has the same type of people. Totally clueless to what they are taking or what they should be watching out for. Like I said in the bad experiences post, ecstacy is a dangerous drug and should be treated with caution, not something that you get off some guy who says "oh yeah man this is DA SHIT!" and happens to be wandering about in the dark areas of a club.
Even small things too, how many people have you met that have no idea when it comes to vicks or medic etc. Hugs and similar stuff... we had a crew join us at one event and they were taken aback when we tried to hug them and then finally realized that it was actually pretty fuckn cool... vicks sticks at Gatecrasher earlier this year, people (obviously pilling outta their trees) looking strangely at this person snorting a vicks stick. And finally when it is offered to them they sort of look quizzically at it like it's automatically supposed to do something...
For fuck sake people... pick up your game!... I need more strangers to hug goddammit... =)

ravesafe melb is just about to have our new guide printed, if you want some copies of that to distribute, i'm sure we'd be happy to do so, just use my details to get in touch
also, i'm asst secretary of the Aus. IV League (AIVL), and our member org in Canberra is CIN. they may be able to help you out with resourcing (photocopies etc) if you really want to get something going.
Call them at [email protected],

I know this is a bit off the topic but sproing brought up a question that I wanted to ask to you bluelighters. How many of you know what medic is? I swear that the only people that know of it live in Perth.
Sproing are you going to Sensation? If so I'll see you there!
I wonder if anyone will have medic there?

Hate to get OT but how did you get so much information from people in the club???? Obviously their muthas need to tell them not to talk to strangers especially when they are talking drugs!!!

It's not what the disco can do for you, it's what YOU can do for the disco!

Alot of people go out to party. Thats it. They arent as fussed about all the details as we all are.
I have a theory on this. MDMA is mentally addictive right. Well that being the case, given that we think about it heaps, we then do seaches for more info. We find places like BL, dancesafe, erowid etc.
Now if they had only ever had speed bombs
1)They wouldnt know what they were missing out on
2)They wouldnt be constantly thinking about pills either.
OK that was theory one.
The other theory is that some people just want to dance...and dance hard. So if that is the goal, then a speedy pill, is deemed good. Thats why alot of reports are written as, "best pill ever, danced heaps, kept me going for hours". Kinda like different strokes for different folks.
Whilst I think its great to impart some of our knowledge onto newbies, sometimes I think trying to do so at a party can be seen as taking some of the fun out of it.
I think a better approach is to hand out a card with Bluelights www. address and let them find out what info they need.
Dont forget, alot of them are young and rebellious. Having some oldy telling them how to be safe is only going to piss them off like their parents piss them off.
After reading some of the horror stories of PMA, there is no way I will take a pill which has tested orange again. Plus I like to get what I paid for, so therefore I test EVERY SINGLE TIME. And surprise, surprise, every single pill turns black as a consequence.
Whats the moral of the story... "You can lead a horse to water..."

Mr Giggles, totally agree with you. I'm also from Canberra and it amazes me week in week out about most peoples lack of knowledge about the pills they are munching down.
Loz, I've seen the testers at Bailey's Aracde in the little tabacco shop. I've also heard they are available from Adult World in Fyshwick but this is unconfirmed...

Mr Giggles, please stop stereotyping and overgeneralising about Canberra. You claim:
"About 3% of pills in Canberra are the real deal"
Gee, is this based on your own thorough scientific research? Just like every other city in Oz, there is good, and there is bad. Find yourself a good dd and you will get good MDxx.
"peoples lack of knowledge of 'pills' and health related issues in canberra"
Again, you talked to a few people on the dancefloor and assume all Canberrans have a low level of knowledge. Do you really think most people in other cities have a comprehensive understanding of the issues?
Also, the kind of people who would talk to you (a stranger) about that sort of stuff are obviously going to be newbies to MDxx. Do you really think anyone with any experience would say "yeah, I get my pills for $40, pre-load and would love to get busted by the police".
By the way, did you ever apologise for telling everyone that 5-htp is available in Canberra at Natural Living? We both know that it was BS.
An annoyed Canberran
Captain Tim.

i agree with smurf. i think it's very important to educate people about what they are doing to their bodies & bluelight has a truckload of information that is really useful for everyone, regardless of previous knowledge or experience.
also, what i think makes it such a great resource is that you are able to ask stupid questions that you can't find the answers to anywhere else. for example, should i drink my pee to increase my roll???!!!
i stumbled upon this site by accident (as probably a lot of people probably did) & i think it would be great if we were able to get more people to have a sticky-beak somehow. we really don't want too many people drinking their pee!
peace

to the crazy person, the normal one is insane

Actually 'captain tim' while there are those in canberra who are in the 'know'and do test there goods there are plenty WHO DONT. Whats with the defensiveness in your post btw iam just pointing out the numourous conversations i had with regular pill heads and some not so new to mdxx. Stop reading so much into my post mate. The intention of it was for ideas to get info out there to canberra people not disrespect anyone. I can see chupa chup and the like havent taken it the way you have mate.
Thankyou to all who posted ideas etc and took this post as constructive not destructive.

Vune... check the main board...
medic post o rama

Well my main man, Captain Tim is on the board, how are you cheif? Captain Tim, I can understand the side of your arguement, after all I have known you a long time.
What Mr Giggles I think is trying to say is that people aren't as safe and don't know as much about ecstasy in Canberra and don't test there pills, or for that matter know what a tester is, I know you do. This isn't to say that they don't take precautions in any way or have no idea on what ecstasy is. I bet most people at Heaven wouldn't know what an E tester is.
I think this is mainly because the "scene" in Canberra is a lot smaller than most other places in Australia, hence less people, hence not as broad a view on the subject. And Captain Tim, I think he does have a point on this, I have lived in Canberra and Melbourne, and have noticed that Melbourne people seem to be a little more clued in on this.
One thing that annoys me (and this isn't just Canberra) is if people like to dance and have speed, why not buy speed instead of a "speed" pill.
I beg to differ with you though Mr Giggles on people's knowledge of how much water to drink in Canberra. And believe me, I have told my friends in Canberra about this site, and it's good to see Captain Tim on here now, don't be a stranger. Only positive things can come from you and CT

telling more people in Canberra about this place.
Oh, I also forgot, what did happen about that 5-htp, Captain Tim went to Natural Living and they didn't know anything about it, explain yourself young man.

sniff it like an amylmal

Well Captain Tim - was that really neccessary? Not a very good way to introduce yourself to this board.
If you want to disagree with somebody, please do it in a constructive manner. I see your point - I'm sure you and many people you know, all know about the dangers of e and the ways to prevent anything bad happening. I just think you read too much into Mr Giggles post. There is no need to attack anyones view around here.
We're all friends - lets act that way!

It posted twice for some reason, so I have deleted it for you all! Just so nobody has to read my rantings twice....

I wish to unreservedly apologise to Mr Giggles for my critical questions and aggressive tone. I am sorry for attacking what I am sure was a well intentioned and noble attempt to help my fellow ravers.
Unfortunately I was in one of those very strange moods. I felt that people who read your post would assume:
1) Canberrans only have shite pills
2) Canberrans are ignorant fools who can't even put in the effort to look after themselves
Being a patriotic fellow, I jumped at this 'attack on my city'.
Looking again at my comment, I realise it was an overreaction and unfair. There is enough anger and misunderstanding in the world without me introducing more on your 'loved up' forum.
I hope you had a good time at Passion (I certainly did).
Captain Tim.
P.S. Magoo, give me a call buddy.

Ah the wonderful world of Bluelight...much better than Spraci!
Still, I can see where Captain Tim is coming from. Sure, we Canberrans up here in the sticks don't have as many raves or parties anymore, but it doesn't mean that we are ignorant. The intelligent Canberra kiddies who do drop know the precautions and are aware of what they're doing. Except it was a bit distressing to see so many kids there who went a bit haywire. Shame....
By the way, I don't drop myself (personal thing) but am always aware of the signs when friends do, and try to make sure that everything is going a.o.k. when they do.
Oh, and Passion was an ass-smashing, hell of a night. Great vibe!
Mr Funky
....yo, Magoo give me a bell too ok? All the Canberra crew think you've vanished into thin air! (that would never happen! he he he)
