Here's the scoop...

I took benzos for about 2 years straight. Klonopin 3 mg/day and detoxed back in May. Well it's January, about 8 months later.

All I did was have 3 shots of vodka on Sunday and quite suddenly a few hours ago I felt agitation out of nowhere. It's not kratom or any other drug. It is alcohol. Wtf !! I only had 3 shots of vodka and I can't believe I am suffering very uncomfortable anxiety, racing thoughts, etc from it NOW !!! when I drank the vodka on Sunday.

Does anyone know how long this bullshit is going to last or what I should do? Thanks in advance...

could be interfering with your brains chemistry with the past benzo use. i know in my rehab they told me that benzos could effect alcohol wd, and vice versa

looks like P.A.W.S. + alcohol usage=these symptoms

I'm sure most of us knows what PAWS stands for, if not, here's the run down

Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms: this is the phase all addicts enter to differing degrees based on your DOC(s), time spent using your DOC(s)and length of accrued time of complete sobriety. Some of the most difficult symptoms are RLS, Insomnia and short term memeory loss (dont count it coming back anytime soon.)

PAWS presents in different form in different people.

For examplea hard core H user for 2 years that quits cold turkey will have 2-3weeks of aute wd's and should also expect 9-18months of PAWS. His PAWS will probably include insomnia, RLS, bad leg and back pain, trouble conetrating, depression.

Hard core Benzo users will have a longer acute wd's 14-28days that focus much more on body tempreature regulation and the ability to rationalize and solve simple problems. There is also the presence of lowered seizure threshold for quite some time. believe it or not, your doc will probably put you diazapam and depekote to wean off the benzo's

Hard Core Alcoholics kind of have a class unto their own. the wd's can cause DT's. If your thinking about quitting alcohol i'd highly reccomend meeting with your doc first so he/she can help plan your choices as alcohol dt's are life threatening and you do need to mointored in the hospital environment. Acute Alcohol wd's last 7-10days (usally, unless the user was also using another substance.

Typically speaking, PAWS lasts anywhere from 3 months to 2 years. Its in these times that after care (AA/NA) etc are best to be sought. Being the addicts that we are, we will always look to the easiest solution to make us feel better-that leads to relapse.

The major problem with relapse is that it is dangerous even at small amounts and it will be much harder to climb back out the hole you've dug. The more someone "chips" and is threading the line it's only a matter time until the thread gives and your face down in the shit. It may also be the last time as well. We you relapse which we all do, we do it with an invisible rope. the rope can be used to pull you before go too far down or it could end up strangling you on the road "coulda-woulda-shoulda."

What's happening with you is your body was used to being strung out on downers. So the first few times you drink alcohol your body is going to be quite confused. It sounds like you had a paradoxial effect, that's usually what downers do to you after you take them long enough.

You'll be fine, your not having withdrawal. More like a rebound-effect.

And I just read you said this was on sunday? It sounds to me like your just having a panic attack. You would of experienced some effects on monday, and while you were drinking on sunday.

Peace

Thanks guys..

It seems as though my brain chemistry has not gotten completely back to normal after the 2 years of benzo use. I know how alcohol used to effect me. I know that when I did the first shot of vodka on sunday I was amazed @ how strong the buzz was. Did two more shot of vodka on sunday and started to notice some w/d like effects on monday and on tuesday I had pretty bad anxiety. It is gone now. No more w/d or anxiety but imo knowing my brain is not back to normal after 8 months of abstinance from benzos completely sucks.

My understanding is that my brain chemistry still has not gone back to normal after a measly 2 years of benzo use. I wish I had never touched the little blue fukkin tablets.
