Hey guys, I'm sorry to ask yet another SNRI & etc. question, but I've searched and searched and can't find a straight answer to this question. Now I am on 150mg/day, have been for about 9 months. I have taken Mushrooms about 3 months into my treatment and found that I needed a larger dose to reach the same level as my friends. Marijuana affects me normally and that's all that I know of since being on this medication.

The 'Anti-Depressants and Recreational Drugs' thread states that Effexor is near identicle to a TCA, and that I should need less, but how can that be when it still has properties of an SSRI, in which case I would need more? I really need this question answered before I go ahead with this trip, as I only have access to 35mg, so starting small and sussing it out one night could well ruin my chance to try it again properly if I find that I need a hIgher than average dose. Alternatively, I don't want to overdo it.

So, those with experience, what is the answer here? Psychedelic phen's, more or less?

Cheers guys.

A.

Thanks for the advise, I am planning on dosing 25mg initially and keeping the 10mg as a bumper dose to be insufflated during the experience. Do you, or anybody else, have any advise as to what to expect the difference to be from somebody who wasn't on this medication? Primarily to relationship between 2Cb and the serotonin receptors? And how the potential blocking of some pathways will effect the experience?

Cheers guys.

i was on pristiq for a while, the major metabolite of effexor.
i don't really know what to say... i'm pretty sure my dose went down for psychedelics when i quit it but its hard to say how much exactly and if the change was the same for all psychedelics.
i think the only sure thing is that the pristiq was making my trips "shallower" but also easier (less likely to have a bad trip). i guess those are both things you expect from 2c-b tho so idk if there would be much subjective difference in this case.

personally i don't think that drug is particularly effective after 3 -4 months of use. really i don't think any ssri is a reasonable long-term solution for depression although i do think they can do good things when used only for a few months.

also i would say get off effexor asap. move onto a different SSRI if you feel you should (or your dr insists) but you really don't want to be on that particular drug much longer unless you plan to take it forever...
the dependency is out of control. i used pristiq consistently for 2 years. even early on i would get the "brain zaps" about 24 hours after missing a dose. it took about 8 months to wean myself off that awful stuff.

I used to be on this so-called "medication" (more on that in a minute), and I tripped many times whilst on it. Doses are roughly the same as what you would normally take. Perhaps slightly more. No one can give you an exact guide, because we are each unique, especially when other drugs are present in the equation.

I have taken 2C-B whilst on it, but only in pill form so I did not know the dose. However, I can give you some guides as it pertains to other phens: 25mg 2C-T-2 was moderate to heavy, and 2.5mg DOC was moderate to heavy.

I would suggest you stop taking that garbage immediately though. I was on it for somewhere between 7-8 years, and it fucked my brain up righteously. I am just now regaining back my cognitive abilities, and repairing the brain damage this crap did to me after so many years of abuse. I am not joking about this, if you stay on it, you will regret it.

Do you really believe that doctors and pharmaceutical companies have your best interests at heart when it comes to recommending you take these chemicals everyday? They don't. They only care about one thing: $$$$$$$. You're just a test animal to them, nothing more.

There are plenty of natural safe remedies that have been used by man for millenia, for aeons. They have been proven safe and effective by the test of time. These modern pharmaceuticals are barely a few decades old, some of the newer ones only a few years old. Nothing in comparison to the millenia that Ayurvedic, Chinese, and traditional ethnobotanical medicines have been utilized. Our cell-memory remembers these natural medicines, whereas it has no memory of these modern pharmaceuticals.

Mother nature doesn't care about bullshit like money or empire, whereas these laboratory-tweaked versions are produced, promoted, distributed, and sold by man primarily for the purpose of gaining power over others.

Thanks so much for the replies guys! Means a lot that I can get the advise that I need here after all these years on the board :). My last account I forgot my password and stuff to, but I've been on these forums since 2004, and you guys have always sorted me out :).

But yeah, I have a detox plan that I'm going to start on in a months time, since I'll have finished my current work by then and will have a couple of weeks to feel like shite. Unfortunately, at the time I got on it, I didn't have much of a choice since my anxiety and agoraphobia had left me nearly unable to leave my house. Since being on these meds I've had the chance to work through a large amount of my issues personally an am ready for the long road to recovery. Psychedelics have always made me feel at home, and combined with some meditation I'm hoping that 2cb will as well.

Thanks for the advise guys, I'll let you know how it goes :).

I cannot speak for Effexor but with Celexa (citalopram) there is almost no effect from any psychedelic excepting for a few tryptamines. The 4-AcO-DMT trips were actually improved by Celexa in the sense that they became more reliably "positive" experiences. There may have been some loss of mental depth however.
