Hey guys,

I'm jadegreenteapot and will probably be here from time to time asking questions about some of my prescription medication. I find that doctors sometimes prescribe weird combinations that are not necessarily good for you, but that you can fix a lot of that by finding more information on sites such as these. In fact, if I'd have taken my doctor's prescription in some cases it would have been seriously dangerous!

Thanks

Prescribers aren't particularly renown for their competence, imo. I personally see them as mere intermediaries lodged between myself and the purveyor of my prescriptions. They aren't that knowledge nor particularly intelligent. I think, therefore, it's the patients' responsibility to investigate the combinations of pharmaceuticals they're prescribed. I've been doing this since I was 11 years old. Surely, you can too.

Nom de Plume, this is an attitude that I encounter time and again, a little bitter and hostile: 'you need to figure everything out by yourself.' As if I'm too stupid for that. Of course I find my own information and read everything I can find. Sometimes it's just best to ask details from someone more experienced, for safety. Why are you here? To discuss drugs and their potential dangers or to be lofty because you're bitter over doing everything alone?

Just say know: thanks for the welcome, good name. I'm a 20 something European woman who likes to write, exercise and watch series. I have CP but no relatives so I juggle a lot of stress and sometimes it's hard for me to process a lot of info so a website like this is perfect for me! And what about you ;)

I apologise if I sounded mean or harsh. That wasn't my intention. I have sundry issues with relating to people, but I know quite a bit about medicines. If you need some help or suggestions with anything drug
related, just ask me directly and in non-opaque language, and I can probably be of great assistance.

'Bout me? Well, I dunno. But, you sound amazing. Will you marry me?

Your pharmacy should be checking for the interactions between medications. If you're not sure, always ask your pharmacist.

They don't, I even once explicitly pointed out to them that a certain medication was dangerous for me to take considering my medical history, they had no idea and had to check. Then they told me it was completely fine, which it was not. They also once prescribed me two benzos at the same time and clearly had no idea that they did until I pointed it out. Now they prescribed me codeine and temazepam without telling me the potential dangers. Had I been ignorant (because people do assume GPs and pharmacists look at this beforehand), I could have been in trouble ranging from mild to lethal, taking codeine every four-six hours (completely opiate naive) and temazepam (prescribed to use sparingly, not on a regular basis, no tolerance now) before bed. No warnings were issues by either my GP or the pharmacist.

lol; well if anyone wants to share whatevs feel free!

a bit about me: i like weird stuff, certain movies, cartoons, anime, love, peace, weed, LSA (ohh gawd it's great!), my doggie, and all kinds of stuff! that's just like... one sentence worth of stuff about me! so... yeah! and thanks nom! i actually admire your writting style :) i've seen other posts and most of them i really liked because of the way you express your language.

Welcome jade teapot I've also experienced some of the same and have found that my pharmacist was always better informed than my Docs though I have a good doctor now. Enjoy your visits and have fun as well. It's a great place as one poster today told me it gets addictive.
