Hello everybody,

Firstly I apologies for my english, It is my second language.

I have been surfing on Bluelight for a while now, and I finally decided to create an account!

I am looking for support, I have a drug problem since i was 14. Mainly downers, Ketamine, Psychedelics, Opiates, Alcohol and Benzodiazepines for 8 years.
To cut a long story short my last big binge was in Asia, ended up with nasty withdrawals and eventually a seizure. This seizure destroyed my back and I was thinking its “payday”. Anyway,

I went to see a psychiatrist who prescribed me olanzapine, paroxetine and lamotrigine, to prevent from seizures and craving.

I am very anxious and depressed.

So now i am sort of clean now, drinking few times a week more like social drinking, smoking weed and occasionally some benzo to relax sometimes…
Still craving a lot opiates and ketamine. its been 6 months that I stopped them. What do you do when you are mentally craving?

Thank you for reading

Hello and welcome. I'm 9 months into sobriety from a nearly 5 year opiate addiction. I can relate to what you're saying. PAWS and sometimes general boredom can bring depression and anxiety in pretty heavy doses.

I wish I could give you the perfect answer but for me it's a day by day challenge. Most days are better than others but when you're having those crazy urges you've got to take it step by step. Try to find out if something else is getting you down and you're reverting to old habits. Maybe you're just having crazy urges all of us in recovery have due to PAWS. I hope you're feeling better today and keep in touch.

For me working out and video games helps with mental cravings. Also, sex. Anything where you can put your thoughts away.

Thank you for your answers guys.
It's hard to quit old habits...
sex , video games are helping that's true but not for long enough for me.
congratulations tryingtogetbetter for your sobriety I know that is not easy everyday!

What means PAWS by the way?

Thank you ketoz. I'm a big gamer and eventually I got my urge to play again back but like you guys it doesn't keep me occupied for long.

PAWS = Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. Maybe you can find something you relate to if you read into it. I did a lot of research prior to quitting on it so I've been prepared for what can come up in the 2 years following your last dose. Take a look I hope it helps!

If you keep going to the "Next Page" it will also provide you with some brief information regarding alcohol and things you can perhaps work on to lessen it. I'm not saying you are an alcoholic but if you feel you can or should decrease your current consumption rate, you absolutely can. I'm more than happy to help explore ideas and things that could help through your rough patches. I constantly am doing the same and will share anything I discover :).

I hope you've had a nice day!

I didn't know about PAWS. It is basically whats happening to me right now.
Thank you for the link.
I suggest exercise, I joined the gym, seems good.
Alcohol makes things worst, but I dont know why im still drinking. Same for you?
Cannot sleep tonight its annoying... I got studies tomorrow I need to be fresh.
Thank you for your support guys, it feels good to find people who have/had the same kind of addiction problem!
