To those who ask about pain mangt and the difficulty of getting a methadone prescription, I will say its not impossible.--- Ive had a very hard time getting more than 30 mgs a day though- -while on the klinic my dose was 100mg for over 25 yrs. Sure, ceratin aspects of the quality of life got better, but Im still going thru a lot of back and leg pain brought on by severe stenosis ,disc problems, an arthritic spine
L1 - L5 even into S1, is a mess.

I was thrown off the klinic 9 months ago now, for missing too many days, -its a long story, and in the end the decision was mutual-I needed to leave. I didn't want to go thru the hassle of trying to get my TH,s back, I didnt want to pee in a cup anymore, I didn't want to talk to some bullshit, uncaring, state paid social worker ,who looked at me like I was the same old time junkie who came there 25 yrs ago

After X-rays, MRI,s and 2 months of physical therapy .I finally got into a pain mgt klinic . They prescribed every pill, patch, and non-narcotic medicine on the market. Then they broke down and presribed 120 mg TR morphine- 2 a day. This might have been OK, but they are so afraid to continue long term that they begin the taper to 90,60,30mgs after a short time. The more you complain, the more you sound like a desperate drug user- very humiliating - Moved onto fentanyal patches ,again the taper began as soon as the pain started to disappear>go figure?

Finally came the methadone . Its been a few months now of 30 mgs a day. Its a beautiful thing going to a pharmacy once a month ,like a normal person, to pick up your medicine- -no more klinic bullshit. However, 30 mgs as you know ,is a pretty low dose. It barely gets me thru the day . They tell me last week that I need to schedule surgery soon to repair the disc,s that have moved ,and are pushing against my nerves, which are pushing against my lower spine. So here I am on 30mg- Sadly, if these doctors dont double my dose. or I dont find a "doctor" who will- it will be back to the klinic for me- Hey, I tried- The plan was never to get off of mdone, just to get out of the system . So to anyone even thinking of leaving a klinic after a long time> be careful. Pain mgt can be a good thing for a lot of people who 1. haven't been on mdone for too long- 2. Good ,if you have never been on a high dose. It could be good for those that have to travel hours to get there and back- - The medical community helps fuel the stigma of this drug. and until that changes, the klinic system is all we have. Am I gonna go back? - We,ll see- Its funny> 25 yrs ago it was to quell a heroin addiction that was out of control, now it would be as a honest to god pain patient . You would have thought that the stigma from 30 years ago would have changed- its a sad commentary on pain and health care in this country when doctors know what to do- but are afraid to do it because of the pressure that the FDA&society put on them - All I know is that I better make that decision soon cause this is whats going on>>>>

the front page of the main newspaper in NJ is screaming about a new heroin epidemic. kids cant get thier meds that easily anymore , so they are going for the cheap, strong heroin that is flooding the area- -(see attched)- -I dont need to fall into this scene all over again at this age- - 8(

be careful out there
