Hey BL..I was a member several years ago & just re-joined this week. I was an IV heroin user but have since gotten clean off opiates completely. Wanted to help others in that same dark place as me if I can. Anyone recommend any forums? Really happy to be back in the BL community ☺️
 
Welcome back and congrats in getting off of the opies. If you enjoy helping people like I do you will find all kinds of threads in The Dark Side, Health and Recovery and Basic Drugs to spread your advice, knowledge, and kind words.

Thank you so much! To be completely honest, I don’t even remember what my username was. I was on a lot of benzos at the time too, which obscured my memory unfortunately lol.
 
alrght!! i don't really post in here but you piqued my interest co i used to live in so cal round 92-93 and i heard the smack scene round then was pretty insane (i was a young kid so missed out). mostly via smelly from nofx (sorry if you're not a punk fan though nofx are like the most popular band i listen to).

how did you get clean? we always have people trying to get off the opiate wagon in H&R so i'm sure you can provide some pointers? its a nasty habit so well done to get shot of it.

I'm glad you decided to come back after all this time and contribute to this amazing forum.
Eversince Google kind of fucked us, it's slowed down quite a bit since i'm sure you saw back when you had first joined.

Like I tell mostly everyone that joins, there is loads of knowledge on here, and just like a gemstone mine, the diamond is in the rough.
Hang around a bit, contribute, and learn to develop friendships here which will eventually turn into a family.

Hey! That’s awesome, what part? I’m from LA. Well, seeing as I was born in 93 I’m not sure what the punk scene was like back then haha but I am a punk fan! I played bass in a punk band in high school lol. I’m actually listening to Descendents right now, I’d say they’re def my fave.

Okay so..I got hooked on oxy first at 18. I was shooting dope by 23. I was acting so I had a pretty fat supply of bread at all times which was mega dangerous for me especially since I lived alone. Ended up getting on methadone which absolutely saved my life. I’m 28 now and have been off methadone successfully since June. It’s the most freeing feeling I’ve ever felt 💜

cool! i was in santa barbara. was gorgeous but don't think i'd wanna live there as an adult.

glad to meet another punk fan! i tend to stick more to current bands that are local to me in terms of listening as there's more of a chance i can watch them live, so many US bands don't come for ages like i loved spill your guts by brutal youth, their first UK gig i got to see was at manchester punk festival but they didn't play a single song off it! like their later stuff is good too but come on if its your first tour in a country play something off your older albums too ffs. argh and by the time i got to see thrice they said they 'couldn't remember' how to play phoenix ignition, they were touring artist in the ambulance (when they started to go shit imo), it was literally 2 albums ago. so many US bands have fucked me over personally by not playing the songs i want them to. ha! anyway this is moot as i haven't been to a gig since 2019, thanks covid!!

well done for getting clean and kicking methadone. we have two threads by people in the early days of trying to kick opiates and a general recovery thread over in H&R. am sure we could benefit from your insight over there, especially as it seems you've kicked recently so the tribulations we all face when we get some clarity will still be etched into your mind.
