Hello! I am a 49 yr old woman from the state of Maine. I have problems with chronic pain and have for about 16 yrs now.

I am presently on 150mcg patches of fentanyl and oxycodone as well. I no longer get any high but it does keep my pain at about a 5 or a 6 out of 10 and allows me to function.

I recently have developed the "opiate itch" so bad that I am scratching myself in my sleep til I bleed. I found Blue light while looking for answers on what I could do for it. I found some helpful advice..Thanks!)

I am happy to be part of this forum and look forward to sharing and supporting without judging.

Hello, I'm also a new member trying to greet another new member!=)
Sorry to hear about your pain.
I wanted to ask you, did you get high from the fentanyl patches when you just started using them?
Thank you for sharing your information.

Hello Irina,

I DID get high when I first began using the patches. I would be "out of it" especially when I first put the patch on. I couldn't work because I would be falling asleep where ever I was!

Now, I can't work due to my physical problems but the patches don't affect me except to keep the pain at a tolerable level. Tell me about yourself! Does that say you are in Moscow Russia?

Mrsmann1, and for how long were the patches giving highs?
Yeah, in Moscow. We got Fentanyl patches here too, but extremely expensive. And they prescribe them only to cancer patients. And not always. Not all the cancer patients can get painkillers here, some die in a big pain. I'm not sayin' about other cases of pain... Noone prescribes.. Russians are idiots, Mrsmann1.
