Hi, guys! I have chronic back and shoulder pain and have been taking Oxycodone for nine years. Needless to say it doesn't work as well as it used to. I doubt my doc will give me any new prescription stuff. I have the oxy, 800mg ibuprofen and cyclobenzaprine. I am new to this forum and don't understand all of the names of the drugs listed to potentiate my oxy. I have tried grapefruit juice and it does seem to make them last longer.

I notice every once in a while that I'll take one and it works really well while most other times, just so so. Is it something I'm eating that makes them work well? Please help me with what I can eat or take OTC to make them work better. Oh and I don't want to nod off...nothing that will make me sleepy please. I do manage to sleep well with the cyclobenzaprine and ZZZquil. I'm looking for that good feeling I get occasionally that actually gives me a little energy too. Thank you in advance and please be patient with my learning curve.

Welcome to BL man, this is really just the forum to introduce yourself, probably ask this question in basic drug discussion.

As a long time opiate/opioid user myself I can tell you however that after 9 years of use it is going to be pretty hard to get that feeling that we get in the early stages of use again, that is one of the drawbacks of opioids.

You will find some people here who can give you their experience and ideas.

All the best.

Holla from the city of brotherly love, MyBackHurts! I'm sorry to hear about your chronic pain, It happens to the best of us sometimes.

There is a megathread on how to potentiate opiates, which can be found at, "http://bluelight.org/vb/threads/534200-The-Ultimate-Opiate-Potentiation-Thread-v2-0?highlight=opiate+potentiation".

A very potent combination in my experiences has been to use Valerian Root Extract, Gabapentin/Pregabalin (If you have access to either), and grapefruit juice. The Valerian root extract contains many compounds which "Moderately" inhibit the enzyme used to convert Oxy to its non-active metabolites, meaning there will be a larger amount converting to its more potent metabolite, Oxymorphone. The Gabapentin or Pregabalin does the same, but to a lesser extent, and so does GFJ. The best way to take GFJ is to take one cup of "FROM CONCENTRATE" White Grapefruit Juice, as it has been proven to potentiate Oxycodone very well. The use of taking a cup every hour is to pre-soak your enzymes, so to speak, to immobilize them before you even take the Oxy. Also, skip any benadryl you take during the day, if you do so, as it does the opposite of the potentiators I have listed, inhibiting the conversion to the more potent metabolite.

Hope I helped answer your question!
