G'morning all,
I finally decided to join after years of reading and not getting to reply. I figured Bluelight needed another aging hippy to even out the demographics a bit. I have smoked cannabis for 40 years now with a couple of years off in my early twenties whilst I sorted out a career and have over that time tried most drugs except the new analogues which frankly scare the crap out of me. I have slowly stopped most of my drug use, I don't use psychadelics any more but am profoundly grateful that I have done, the world is not the same after tripping lights up the shadows of your mind, opium was fun but opiates in general steal your soul and your friends. I could have had a problem on stimulants but I am a lazy, lazy man and the need to kick back and have a doze in the sun just about kept me on the straight and narrow.
I have mostly just been a dilletante and have avoided serious problems or addiction other than tobacco but know that that was mainly luck rather than wisdom and there, but for the grace of Dog, go I. Not all of my friends have been so lucky, I am no stranger to the downsides of drug use and whilst I remain libertarian and supportive of peoples rights to exercise their own judgement and do what they please with their own bodies I am horrified by stupidity and people who don't take it seriously and end up hurting themselves or others.
Six months ago I finally gave up fags and feel sooo much better for it, I doubt that I could have done it as easily as I did without discovering the joys of vaping. I am the proud owner of a Volcano and I swear by it and more than one of my aging cronies agree, I never thought to find an administration route more satisfying than an enormous fat joint but I do actually prefer a bag of juicy vape now.
