I originally found bluelight a million years ago, and became a member in 2004. Some of the old schoolers might remember me as Zekethemusicman. Never did write many threads, only commenting here and there. But I always learned so much and appreciated the community. However, around 7 years ago I decided to end my dependence to opiods, which I was successful at. But if I was to remain steadfast in my endeavor I couldn't participate or even lurk here, or even Erowid because of the obvious temptation.

Now years later I have beaten the addiction that controlled me and learned much information on the sober side of being a drug addict, as well as the psychology and culture of substance use/abuse. I have returned to bluelight to rejoin the community and hopefully contribute as much information back to the harm reduction community as I received from it.

I look forward to talking to everyone here these days, newer members and old schoolers!

Welcome back to Bluelight, @Jopeth!

I'm sure a lot of people could benefit from hearing your story, so I look forward to seeing you around. What had helped your sobriety?

Peace!

well madness00, after many years of procuring suboxone illicitly, I just plain ole got tired of it. I coincidently had a week off for a vacation i wasn't able to take, so I just didn't buy anymore opiates and just decided to bite several bullets and go cold turkey. I got my first nights sleep after 6 days of constant loperamide and cannabis and alcohol. For a good while I did use alcohol as a substitute. my thinking was that any sleep, even if drunk sleep, was better than sleepless insanity. I was somehow able to start work again after a week. I finally felt "normal?" after about 6/7 weeks and haven't looked back since. that was heading towards 7 years ago.

A year later I topped myself esteem once again. Having been addicted to smoking tobacco, and then chewing tobacco I too quit that cold turkey. Honestly qutting nicotine was one of the easiest things ive ever done. Its really, really, really simple. All one has to do is *literally* nothing. I felt kind of like a pussy after quitting nicotine. Why was it that hard? lol It wasn't.
