Hi,
I am a Chronic Pain patient. On top of other issues being forced off my opioids. This site has been really helpful for interesting and not well known ways to help get through withdrawal of so many specific drugs, and how to handle the withdrawal.

I have been through severe benzo WD before, stopped half my dose and switched from a super short half life benzo to a long half life benzo for the other half of the dose all in one day (biggest mistake EVER) and spent 2+ years bedbound with over 60 signs and symptoms of WD (which were constantly changing), is the worst thing I have ever been through.

I am hoping to get and give help, as I have a medical background (Emergency Medicine) and online experience helping people WD off of many classes of prescription drugs from very high doses to very low. I, however, have no experience coming off of opioids, not one of the classes of drugs I helped others taper from.

The anxiety coming off of my benzo, and the worry of dropping and 2 opioids is insane.

Hobbies: Reading tons of books, doing crosswords, camping (warm weather), medical research. Before I got stuck with intractable chronic pain, I worked 2-4 jobs at a time plus I was a dancer (not stripper...lol- too shy, think years and years of ballet and hip hop lessons & performing). Disney World freak, just LOVE that place! Dog lover.

Hi SweetyPi,

Thank you for the well done introduction!

Gosh, i can't imagine being bed-bound for two years.. that must have been horrible. I hope you never have to go through that again, but i'm glad you could use Bluelight as a resource to help manage withdrawal symptoms. What do you think was the most important thing you learned that helped you manage your WD?

Dang i wish we had a dance floor at Bluelight so you could show us what you've got.. but i'll just have to use my imagination :). Carousel or roller coaster? Fried dough or cotton candy? Pit or Pug? All imperative questions. And jingles your bells, here's our This or That game: http://bluelight.org/vb/threads/810209-This-or-That?p=14445897#post14445897

Welcome to Bluelight!!

Hi SweetiePi!

Welcome to Bluelight :) I've been a longtime reader but recently registered as well. You and I have a lot in common, aside from the dancing (nobody wants to see that haha).

I hope your experiences can be useful to others and you're able to continue to get answers for your own questions. I've had opiate WD many times, my doctors tried to help me through some of them (post cervical spine c1-c4 fractured) but it wasn't great. I'm here if you ever need support or someone to talk to :)

Anyway, I'm blabbering on. Welcome! :D
