Hola everyone,

Glad to be here and hope to meet some cool people with acquiring some much needed info from people that seem to be more informed than my ER Dr that just told me "I don't think any things wrong with you, what would you like for me to do"... before that, quick background. I'm a chronic pain sufferer. I've had a T2-T9 spinal fusion in 2009, 32 years old. First couple of years I was taking half a norco once a day and I felt Like I was going to stop breathing and die ..... I'm extremely sensitive to (new) meds... but it went up to 1-2 Norco a day gradually as needed ... slowly went up up and up ... now I'm at 6 percs a day and relief is hard to find. I sometimes need to take 2 on at a time to get any relief. Pain Dr recently told me I had some small bones( I forget the name) that attach to my lumbar sticking into the soft tissue ... that along with some arthritis along the spine is likely leading to my muscle spasms and all this damn pain apparently. Tried epidural injections. Nothing. Tried trigger points into my muscles tand nothing. Dr literally told me "sorry, we've done all we can do, we can continue treating you with meds". So here I am, ready for this "pain specialist" to make my pain better and he tells me he's out of options! Horrible feeling.... especially while I'm feeling like a senior citizen and I have 3 babies ... 1,3 and 7. But Friday he finally told me, look, I'd like to try something outside the box. Lyrica. I was very hesitant as I saw the possible side affects and I'm usually the asshole that gets the side affects... well, tonight the pain was soooo bad, I said F it, bring on the lyrica. Well , about 15 minutes later I'm having a coughing attack, feels like mucus is running down my throats and I can't breathe well. Poison control said "call 911"... I didn't but I drove to ERZ I go to the er, the nurse looks up possible reactions and said what I'm experiencing is rare but it is listed. MY nasal safe producing too much mucus and it's draining out my nose and down my throat causing me to feel like I'm choking. Well, when the dumb ass dr came in and looked at me (the way a lot of er drs look at me when they see I've been on opiates for "so long") and says "look, I don't think there's anything wrong with you, maybe you're getting sick from a cold" I said "NO, I was completely fine and you mean to tell me it was so coincidental that 15 minutes after lyrica I have mucus running down my throats and my windpipe feels swollen". So I got some asthma treatments ( I usually don't have asthma but twice a year ) Anyways, symptoms got about 75% better after 2 hours of this smart ass dr so I bounced. Now I googled lyrica and oxycodone and I find a post here on blue light from some lady that said her husband died from this mixture! Way to flare up my anxiety!( And sorry for your loss ma'am). Anyhow, I'm here at home, feeling tired as hell and my back hurts like hell. Even though I had this reaction to the 75mg lyrica about 4 hours ago, do you think I'd be ok to take a 10mg percs and hit the hay? Or might I have to worry about not waking up in the morning?! TIA

I'm glad you're ok now. Lyrica has a pretty long half life (if I recall correctly) around 10-11 hours so it's going to stay in your system for a while. I personally wouldn't to be on the safe side since you already have had a bad reaction.
