I could change my life
within that space of the last word
and the first kiss.

I swallowed the trail
that you laid upon
my mouth with
gentle lips.
Closing my eyes,
I invented new colours.

My stomach clenched
as it did
when I first
saw you.
And when you hunch your head
in pretend moods,
I nearly fall in love.
Smiling.

You searched me with kisses
as I moved my whole
world for you.
It doesn't bother me and then
it does.
Until your eyes, beautiful
with expecting no less,
shine.
I move to you
shivering
with flame.

Sometimes,
what we have seems so thin that
a feather could shatter it.
Yet, the strength of the
lengths we go to is stronger
than anyone else would dare
try.

Every step that isn't you makes
every one that is you
fade away.

I've read this poem over quite a few times and I can't quite articulate what it makes me feel! This piece starts off sounding rather positive... yet at the end, there's something bitter-sweet about the whole thing...

I like this very much.
