My friend was born with a heart problem and if she takes stimulants she dies. The problem is thats pretty much all me and my other friends do other than weed is meth coke and most of all E all of which would kill her. We want to let her in on the fun which brings me to my question, what drugs can she take that won't cause her cardiac distress? We do a wide range of prescription pills so I was thinking along those lines. Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think it would be safe for anyone to comment on what would be safe and what wouldn't, until we know exactly what is wrong with her. I can say you're definatly right to keep here away from the meth and the coke... A lot drugs can increase sympathetic (adrenaline-like) activity in the body, cannabis can, most psychedelics/hallucinogens can... Benzos and opiates don't usually, but then you don't want to take them with some conditions either... and they're not really that recreational... in my opinion anyway.

I love benzos and opiates, but even I've experienced increased heart rate while on opiates.

I don't know the exact condition that she has but I just thought there might be a drug with little to no effect on heart rate or bp. I just feel bad for the poor girl when we're all rolling balls and she's just sitting there looking jealous.

I was going to jack some xanax for her but the insert said not to take if you have a heart condition. Foiled again.

Heart conditions are not really to be fucked with. Since we have no idea what her condition is, what her health is, and other factors none of us can really, safely give any advice regarding what types of drugs may be safe for her to use.

Even if we could, it would be anecdotal, and she should talk about this issue with her doctor. You heart isn't something you really want to fuck about with.

Hmm, thats what I told her Matt but she's afraid to its her family doctor and he's tight with her parents.

Ill get the name of her disorder and ask my doctor. LOL. Hey doc, what drugs will be safe to do with my friend? That will go over well.

I don't think it is a good idea for your friend to do any drugs at all since she has a heart problem. I know a girl who has heart problem and she takes alot of medicine everyday just to stay alive. Now I am not sure if your friend does the same, but if she does then she most definitly could not mix the two. I think it is just to great of a risk for her to do drugs. I mean you guys can't just spend time doing something else... as a group? Just try to include her in other things.

Unless you want your friend in serious health problems ( dead ) i say dont give her anything that could put strain on her already conditioned heart. i feel bad for her, she is missing out on so much. Like what KaNdii kiSses said, dont just do drugs around her, do things that she can do too. Cuz that would suck if she just watches you guys get high and she cant partake. Thats like making a heroin addict watch people shoot dope all day.

I'd rather sit there in jealousy then die of a heart attack for a nights fun.

It's not worth it. Life's to precious.

shals :D

PS: This thread is most likely more suited for Health Q&A.

Is she on any medications e.g atenalol ?

She is on medication, I never asked what it was called tho.

I never even thought about doing shit in front of her, now I feel bad. Thanks guys for the help and for your apparently genuine concern. I guess I'll just have to accept the fact that she will miss out on this wonderful facet of life.

We'll see if the folks over in Health QandA have anything to add...

But the message will pro'lly be the same, if she has a serious heart condition she shouldn't be messing about with drugs, especially if she doesn't fully undersatnd her condition.

same thing goes with people who have personality disorders and take pyschodelics.

Unless you can tell us what her condition is and what medication she is on, we can't give you any more adivce than has already been given.

Amphetamines put additional stress on heart....

increased heart rate (tachycardia)
increased breathing rate
increased blood pressure

It's similar with xtc and coke. Person with heart problems might experience these effects on a different way than regular users do.

Need I say more...

I imagine that something mellow would not mess the heart up too badly. I imagine that half a pill wouldnt go down too badly. There is the scenario that you buy a batch of pills under the assumption that they contain MDMA , but what if the real compound you had taken was PMA? Pills can contain all manor of different substances, nearly all of those stimulants. I think that ALL feelings of empathy are connected to the heart IMO. It is like the mu-opiate receptor, where respiratory depression is part & parcel of the opiate euphoria. I know a friend who's little brother died of a congenital heart defect when he was four. I suggest you keep it half-hat and dont give her anything that will be too intense.

I guess the question she needs to ask is whether the risk to her health is worth a short time high. I'd heed other's suggestions and seek out other recreational activities that you can enjoy with her without putting her at that risk.

There's far more to life than drugs :)

It would really depend on what heart condition she has.....

I found out i have a-fib - common problem with heart rhythm.
which is no suprize, since it runs in the family.. i just never wanted to get it checked.

But i do massive amounts of amphetamines, coke, etc.

heart problems don't mean instant death....unless she has something extrememly serious.

in which case.....she shouldn't even consider taking any drug other then prescribed.
She has a perfect reason not to even look for a recreational drug to do, and it would probably be best that way.
