Health Benefits of Tea

one thing i am known for is my love for tea, ironically i probably know less about tea than most people. all my loose leaf green tea comes shipped from my inlaws in china, and i can't read chinese. i appreciate the subtle changes in flavour as i end one pack and go on to the next, but i honestly can't name any of them or their ingredients.

all i can say is how they make me feel: really good.

sorry, i can't be more helpful

edit: whoops i forgot i posted this same info on the first page

Hey I drink tea every day. It's interesting trying different kinds. My grandmother has all kinds of weird and wonderful teas that she gets from a specialist-tea store (eg. mixtures of chai, green, black tea with different types of flowers, cinnamon, etc).

I personally drink more herbal tea than anything (because they usually don't have caffeine). I drink peppermint tea every day. And often drink giner and lemon. Both of these teas are soothing for the stomache, which I like. I just use the tea bags from the supermarket (Twinings). Sometimes I make up loose leaf tea in a pot, though I'm not really fussed.

It's my understanding that green and white tea are among the healthiest. Explore your new found interest. One day may you hope to be a snobby connoisseur. ;)

i drink red/black fruit/herb tea duing the day and green later in the day
and only 100% natural fruit tea(black) when im at home its gotta be some good tea

at winter i sometimes put a bit of xo cognac in and its great for the cold winter days :)

atm im drinking some blackcurrant tea with sugar and milk

Lets see...

Earl Grey
Chamomile with added honey
Ginger

I love black tea with a bit of sugar; I tried several times to switch to green but I just don't really like the taste unless its very light. Ginger was initially for upset stomach but I liked the taste so I'll drink it just for that. Chamomile just seems to naturally go really well with honey so I dig that too.

Chamomile is amazing, I buy it by the half kg in loose form :) I also add honey to it. It's almost rather decadent in it's smooth sweetness and comforting blanket of relaxation. I truly love Chamomile....it's anti-anxiolytic effects are very strong when you need it, too. (This is from a past heavy drug user aswell)

I usually just buy loads of tea in loose form and make up my own brews in the caffetiere. Right now i'm sipping on Ginseng, chamomile, ginger, honey, redbush and yerba.

Green tea can be INCREDIBLY bitter and disgusting if you over-steep it. I always leave teabags in right until the point of drinking, but with green tea you need something like honey to take the edge off the bitterness...gives your tongue a crazy dry texture too.

I actually like the taste of plain green tea. Granted I've only had it once and only had a few sips (I didn't know it had caffeine but could instantly tell 8)). It did taste rather bitter, but in a good way. :P

Agreed. Green tea does have a bitter taste to it, but we can't have everything we drink be sweet. Green tea is probably my favorite right now other than flowering teas, but those are almost impossible to come by.

I can't pick just one; it depends on my mood, time of day, and whether I'm trying to calm my stomach. In no particular order:
*Chamomile (for evenings).
*Regular black (for mornings).
*Chai with coconut milk.
*Any mint tea.

Why?

AddictivePersona, yeah Green Tea is rather pleasant, provided you don't oversteep it.

Well, you *can*, but it really takes away from the flavor that's there. If you don't like the taste as is, you add things to it until you like it? I add things to drinks whenever I want to have a combination taste. Here's the way I see it: I like to learn to enjoy things as they are before adding other things. If I don't like it purely as is, nothing done to it, then maybe it's not worth me buying just so I can put things I like in there anyway.

I've always enjoyed tea. Never really looked into the health benefits, but I always felt as though a nice hot cup of herbal tea helped cleanse my system and allowed me to relax and unwind. I have 5 different flavors of Herbal Tea at the moment, right now my favorite is probably Stash's Wild Raspberry Hibiscus, very good with a tad bit of honey.

I think the reason tea is so relaxing, is the actual activity that is making tea. Think about it, you boil water, let it simmer, add honey, flavors if you desire, and you sit and focus on sipping on a hot glass of goodness. It keeps you're mind occupied, and focuses on something that we associate with pleasure. I love sitting, perhaps with some light ambient music, and smelling the steam coming off the cup of tea. Clears my nose, and livens up the senses. It's so relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. I love it!

Essiac Tea. It tastes like water with dirt in it but its really good for detox and immune support.

Just discovered this stuff called "guayusa." Apparently South Americans have been drinking it for ages, but only recently started getting imported (to the masses) of the US. It tastes better than green (imo), and has as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, but it is sort of time-released and doesn't cause jitters or any crashing. It has actually proved to be somewhat euphoric for me, too. And you can brew it three/four/five times and it still tastes good/doesn't get bitter.

My favorite tea at the moment is probably jasmin green tea. It is rrreally good. Shit is expensive though, like 7 euros for 100g. I am also always a fan of moroccan mint, lemon ginger with licorice, and whatever is on sale at the local tea place.

Lol I was gonna post, and saw that I already had. My tastes haven't changed too much still love the same teas, but I recently had some sage/honey tea that was really good.
