in the general area of that place over there
Hey, so im going to be in the Netherlands ( most likely Amsterdam ) sometime next month, and was wondering if anyone could suggest other cities to go to besides Amsterdam?
Im buying an interail pass with two friends, and two out of the tree of us have been to Amsterdam before an would like to see the other less touristy cities.
Also info on coffeshops in Amsterdam would be nice, i've been to Bluebird ( or is it bluejay? ) and also bulldog. I liked the atmosphere of bluebird<3, and was very disappointed with bulldog:p.

Sorry if there's already a Amsterdam/Netherlands thread, the one i found had been closed.
Either way, thank you ahead of time for your time/reply's. =D

Utrecht is nice, but it is like a smaller version of Amsterdam, just without a shitload of tourists. It's only 20mins away from Amsterdam, so not too far. Haarlem, also close to A' dam, can be fun too. Then there's Maastricht, in the south, close to Belgium, which is alright. I'd say skip Rotterdam, the nightlife is overrated (apart from the occasional good party at the Maassilo) and it is only sort of fun when you're interested in modern architecture. Don't be seduced by tours to Delft, Zaanse Schans or Volendam, totally not worth it imo.

Maastricht is still operating a no foreigners policy in coffeeshops, although this may change.
Groningen in the North is worth a visit and some people are enchanted by the little towns of Friesland.
My fave coffeeshop in A'dam is Dutch Flowers.
There's currently a major Van Gogh exhibition in A'dam, which is well worth visiting if you are into art.

I've been to a few really pretty areas just a short train ride out of Amsterdam along the coast. I am not sure what they are called..one smelled like chocolate though..

If you are looking for really good weed (at least a few years ago), try out the grey area. The coffee shop itself is not the greatest, but there are plenty of places to smoke in Amsterdam.

I had a few great days out in Zaandvort. It's on the coast about a 30-40 minute train journey from Amsterdam. Lots of beach bars, live music and quite a nice town centre. Great if the weather is good.

when i was last there for the europa cup final i had flowerbomb kush

I reallly liked it, pretty strong buzz but not overwhelming

Try haarlem also known as hemp city plenty of coffeshops their though i dont know if the willie wortel chain of shops is still going. if in amsterdam i would stay away from the coffeeshops around the tourist traps. My favs would be katsu, club media, mellow yellow, paradox, kadinksys or if you can find it the grey area and also amnesia. The last two maybe a bit more expensive than the others but they are pretty central and you dont have to walk too far. Also i would say stick to sativas through the day then indicas at night. I have found if you smoke a heavy indica first it seems to cancel out any effects if you smoke a sativa after it.

haarlem, arnhem (the bridge too far) rotterdam is a good modern city i hear but never been

I forgot to say if the weather is good head out to vondlepark i really love this place just to chill out and people watch.

this vondlepark is lovely! take a spliff and sit there in the sun love it , i camped out at gaasper a few years ago that was fun :) could get the metro into amsterdam like 20mins away, was so cheap too ! and fun did i say :)

I personally prefer Westerpark or Sarphatipark, as they are not as crowded and generally attract a better crowd imo than Vondelpark, although I do like the place.

I loved De Rokerij in the Leidseplein but it's closed down now :( It was a large (in CS terms), dark, atmospheric place with amazing gothic/otherworldly decor.

Amsterdm coffeshop-wise, I liked the Siberie. Next to a channel, not packed with tourist (in late April of some years ago, at least). What are you looking for in other cities? Utrecht is a nice city and you might find concerts/festivals around this time. 's Hertogenbosch is worth half day-trip if you're in a touristy mood. It really depends on what you like, though
