So I know that they aren't considered psychedelic but what exactly do they do? My buddy takes them and claims he trips. I'm not sure if he is or just thinks he is because he has no experience with actual mushrooms or lsd.

Amanitas? Red(/yellow) caps with white spots? Or gummies? Cause if it's a food product it's a psychedelic RC, if it's dried amanitas, they're a gabaergic around the potency of alcohol but more selective (less dirty).

Which, a name would not only help. Its essential,
Champignon s, Shiitake s or Oyster-fungus. Consumable mushrooms.

Shiitake, Lions Mane and Maitake also have health/ cognitive improving effects.

And then there are the Psylocybine containing ones [psychedelic].

Conocybula
Galerina
Gymnopilus
Inocybe
Panaeolus
Pluteus
Psilocybe

And Muscimol containing, Amanita Muscaria.
[the Ibotenic acid needs to be decarbed ! i read]
Effects more intoxicant/ deliriant/ Alcohol like ?
No experience with these. For the record.

I've never felt confident in consuming fly agaric because it requires appropriate preparation to remove the toxin. Is it like alcohol?

A couple of people I knew had tried it and they both mentioned falling asleep and waking up tripping - although they were VERY clear in pointing out that it's effects are totally different to mushrooms that contain psilocin.

Am I going mad or did an RC vendor briefly offer gaboxadol?

They did for a while. Not sure if they don't or if the price has gone up but they did. It's not really "like alcohol" but nothing better to compare it to, not like benzos or phenibut or ghb or barbs so its closest to alcohol. It's a gaba agonist rather than PAM and the effects are different because it doesn't have all the toxicity/organ damage that triggers endorphins and downstream euphoria.

Well alcohol is a pretty non-specific compound.

I like the above image that notes that a BAC >0.5 is fatal but notes 'additional symptoms may occur'...

Graham Chapman was a trained doctor, member of Monty Python and for many years an active alcoholic. He was, apparently, drinking 2l of gin per day and noted that the quantity of alcohol in his body was MORE than is used in preserving a cadaver.

It's much closer in effect to z-drugs like zolpidem, not alcohol.

I actually love the stuff, but it's not a good drug of abuse or recreation. Low/medium doses are somewhat of a "background" type drug. It's not an "in your face" type of drug. It's mostly a modest general sedation/hypnotic feeling, very little anxiolysis or muscle relaxation.

But high doses turn into a delirium and give strange hallucinations similar to high doses of zolpidem. It wasn't desirable enough for me to repeat.

I think muscimol is an excellent functional/medicinal if dosed properly. It potentiates other drugs very nicely, paired with benzos it's excellent, they potentiate each other perfectly on a pharmacological level.

Am I going mad or did an RC vendor briefly offer gaboxadol?
I doubt it. I wish.
