hello everyone. ive been using meth for 26 years an i woke up one morning an chucked it all in. its been 1 month today an still feeling positive about quitting. the only thing that is frustrating me is getting motivated again. wanting to get up off the couch to do dishes, make my bed, pluck my eye brows. just to actually get off the couch. ive stacked on the weight. i no i should just get up an go for a walk or something. im proud of myself for quitting because i have 3 beautiful teenage children who i spend more quality time with and they understand where im at. but me within myself i just want to be able to wake up an get stuck into everyday living. im probably being hard on myself because its early days but i didnt give up meth to become slack an fat. ill get angry before i get depressed cause thats me. if anyone has any ideas how long this lasts for an how can i get motivated quicker.

Hey man first of congratulations. that is some habit, fucking 26 years long! damn you would think it would get boring after the first ten years lol.... anyway, better late than never...

I just quit meth back in may, and I was on it pretty good for the last 3 and a 1/2 years and then off and on for seven years before that.... and I was put on adderall when I was 10. . . heres the thing man, yeah the couch can be the fucking great satan for the newly sobered meth fiend. its easy to fall into a sort of slump... where you're not exactly depressed, but you not doing well either, you're sort of in limbo because you're not used to being without amphetamine in your system. Its hard to get that dopamine going again, and your going to feel stiff and unmotivated for a long time until your CNS achieves true balance.... which in your case is probably 7-9 months away.

you may want to consider finding a medication that will get things moving along quicker for you.... An anti-depressant, perhaps the ones focused on dopamine inhibition.... like trazadone, or wellbutrin. Abilify might be one worth investigating with your doctor. Do you believe that a stimulant prescription would set off your addiction? Maybe a script for Ritalin would be enough to get you moving and doing the dishes and wouldn't stir your addiction because its so mild compared to smoking shizzle.

Of course exersize is going to be crucial...

you've got to retrain your brain and body to reward itself naturally.... That feeling you get when you , say give your car a nice sudsy wash and wax , that rewarding DING! feeling right when you finish, Meth floods our system with that reward nuerotransmitter whether we did anything to deserve it or not. Now , its going to be 3 times as hard to get yourself to do the dishes, and when you finish you're going to feel like "meh......"

Hi, Welcome to Bluelight !

Excellent advice above. I used meth for a few years myself. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the site or otherwise. :)
