The happiness that other people find in anything, big or small, is because they open themselves to that feeling, that experience of simple connection with something outside so that it can touch something inside. It could be a dog or a cat, music, a person, the whole world. You have opened yourself to a pill, to a drug; you allow that substance to make you happy. Someone else tells you to try the things that make them happy but that will not make you happy unless you open yourself to them, too. Food, sex, exercise, a hobby, an art--it can make you happy, it can make you miserable. The thing most people can't admit is that they hold the reins, they hold the keys. It is a choice to be happy. It is a choice how much happiness you are willing to let in. Everything exists as itself outside of our experience of it--whatever it is-- you have to open to what it has to offer.
