I was on opiates for at least 20 years. I went to kratom when I couldn't get opiates. Then I quit opiates and kratom, been off them for almost 2 years.
I managed to taper the opiates to just taking tiny crumbs. When I realized how ridiculous that was, I stopped completely. Physical withdrawals didn't last as long as I expected. Psychological withdrawals lasted longer. Along with people and friends who used to be around me, opiates were just one more loss.

When the 'smoke cleared' I realized why I used for so long. Now I don't miss opiates or think about them.

Now I have 2-3 beers and smoke some weed in the evenings. If that still makes me an addict, so mote it be. Now instead of that monster inside controlling me, he sits right in front of me where I can see him.

Wishing you all light and peace.

Congratulations on getting off opiates! I was on them over 10 years and struggled to stop them but have been off them almost 3 years now. I needed some for a recent surgery but thankfully I was able to stop them without any issues.

Now for the benzos . . .
